snapper
What is a .350 Rem comparable to? Just kickin' around some ideas in my head for maybe a new toy!

Strut10
Re: Anyone Pretty comparable to a .338 Win Mag only with more frontal area to the bullet. The .350 Rem is a force to be reckoned with and capeable of flattening all North American big game. It'll also get you more premium digs in The Off the Porch Gang. AJ
Re: Anyone It will give about 100 fps over a 35 Whelen. The drawback to the original short mag is the bullets take up too much powder space. How about the .358 Norma Magnum? It will add 300 fps over the .350 Remington Magnum, but its a standard length magnum (7mm Rem, 300 Win, 338 Win, etc).
Strut10
Re: Anyone How about a 358 STA?? It's an Express length action. But it'll gain you about 300 fps over the .358 Norma and brass is easily made from 8mm Rem Mag. Being the founder of The Off the Porch Gang, I felt obligated to mention this option to you. Bigger, faster, better, more!!
superguide
Re: Anyone I saw the flukiest shot ever made by a neighbor with a .350 Rem.-he shot at probably 500 yards at a buck running afyer a doe across a field-the bullet was about ten yards short but it skipped and hit the buck in the neck and dropped him. You could see it plain as day in the snow-I don't what he was thinking shooting that far but he got lucky. I wouldn't of believed it if I wouldn't of seen it. snapper
Re: Anyone Well...I was looking at a Remington 673 guide gun in the .350 rem., thats why I asked about that cal. Coulda had a heck of a deal....but as always, I'm a little too late. Just kickin' around some ideas...but something that won't either break the bank or my shoulder. LETMGROW
Re: Anyone Before I bought any of these oddball cal. I would check price and availability of ammo. Just to be able to say I have one wouldn't be worth $60 plus a box for fodder.

Just to be able to say I have one wouldn't be worth $60 plus a box for fodder. [/ QUOTE ] Maybe if you don't reload........... Agreed, it'd take a millionaire to shoot a lot of these "oddballs" as you call them. But, a fellow can load premium ammo on brand new brass for most all of the "oddball" calibers (including the BIG ones) for $1 - $2/round. Check the price of some premium 30-06 factory loads sometime. snapper
Re: Anyone I agree about the price and availability...but as Strut says...reload 'em! Don't matter anyways...looks like I'm aquiring a Tikka O/U 12ga. and .222.
LETMGROW
Re: Anyone I too, agree about the reloading, which I do myself. Not everyone does though. Oh, yea the price of some premium ammo has gone out of sight. Seems like fancy packaging and exotic names command high prices for ammo these days.
