Re: rain

one of my best days was in a light rain/foggy day. Most of the pond was frozen except for a small area. I put out like 6 decoys with one of the decoys on a pull string. I'd give that string a little move to make motion and some light calling and the ducks just kept dropping in. Had a limit in about 1 hour.

I don't like hunting real heavy rains but light rains are great for duck hunting.

Re: rain

Where I hunt in Wisconsin I prefer sunny days. By me the Mallards go out to feed in the dry cornfields. If I hunt the marsh instead of the cornfields I have to wait for the Mallards to come back to the water. If it rains the ducks can get enough water to drink right in the field and they might stay out alot longer. If it is dry and sunny, they have to come to water to drink. Most of the time they are coming back to water a couple hours after legal shooting hours in the morning. If you are hunting a feeding area, the rain won't hurt you as bad, other than they may spot you easier because there are no shadows for you to hide in, and the sun isn't in their eyes. I know of a lot of people than enjoy hunting in the rain, maybe I'm just getting too old?!! smirk.gif
