quest. on blinds

I got an Ameristep Blind from Wallmart. It was on clearance for 50 bucks. I figured I'd use it for turkeys mostly but would like to use for deer tomorow with a kid.

How do deer respond to these at first. Do I need to leave it there for a while so they get used to it or can I set it up and hunt right away? Like tomorow?

If I you do hunt right away, what precautions do you use in placement, scent, etc.. (ie..do I spray tent down, do I need set it into brush, do I cover it.)

How obtrusive is it to deer in an oak stand where it will be more exposed?

Any comments/advise is appreciated. I've never used on of these things.

Re: quest. on blinds

If at all possible "Brush it in"...use any natural cover in the area and make it dissappear if possible.

Most of the time Deer will react negatively to a new blind that suddenly shows up in an area that is just setup without brush to help it blend in and break up it's outline.

With Turkeys they will walk right up to it and it wont matter...but with deer it's a tottaly different story.

Here is a ground blind my Wife and I setup this year:

...and what it looks like without much brush on it:

Re: quest. on blinds

this is the thing. I wasn't planning on using it this year for that reason. But, I have a 12 year old that is really wanting to go hunting with me. I don't have a 2 person stand. He has no camo or anything so a blind would be good for a fidgety kid. I could put him up in another stand close by, but we still have no camo. I also don't know how still he can be.

So I'm just wondering if the blind on the spur of the moment would work. From the sounds of it, it doesn't look like it,,,

Any ideas then??
