What do you like to shoot at?

I think we all like to play around once in a while while shooting or sighting in our guns. One of my favorite targets is a gallon milk jug filled with water and tightly capped. At 100 yds. it is really impressive what the bullet does to the jug! I have also shot golf balls, cans etc. Anybody ever try an egg? grin.gifblush.gifshocked.gif

I like to take an empty gallon paint can and fill it full of water, then drive the lid back on with a hammer. When the bullet from a high power rifle hits it, the lid goes about 20-30 feet in the air. I also like to shoot a 5 gallon bucket full of sand. Sand really does a number on a bullet. This little test lets you know real quick what a bullet is made of.

I do enjoy shooting golf balls off a tee with the .22 lr guns. We used to shoot spray cans at long range in the snow. Instant feedback of a hit. Spinners and gongs are always fun to shoot and provide a new shooter with instant feedback, and can keep them interested in shooting longer than punching holes in paper.

Quart plastic pop bottles half full of water with a chunk of dry ice added about two minutes before shooting. Just make sure you don't put the dry ice in unitl you are ready to get far away from them. They blow up. Exploding targets.

I realize its kind of traditional, but I like using balloons for my son to shoot (he's 11) with his .22. I'll put the target at 50 or 75 yards and then blow the balloons up to different sizes. Let him start with the bigger ones and then move to the more challenging small ones. More interesting for him than punching paper.
