JamesVee
Got these pictures just the other day. The first buck has a huge chunk of flesh missing between his neck and shoulder. High Res Pic This next buck has got a hook-style antler coming out from under his left beam. I'm not sure if it's connected to the beam or not. Sure is cool though. M00N
Re: Couple of Odd Bucks.... Wow pretty nasty wound on that buck. Is that possibly from a poorly placed shot from a firearm of some kind?

JamesVee
Re: Couple of Odd Bucks.... Initially I thought it could be from a firearm, but the fur surrounding the wound doesn't appear to be charred, or burnt at all. Plus, look at the size of the thing. I'm clueless as to what might have caused it. I've got about 10 or so more pictures of this buck, but the quality of the pictures is about the same. Ravin R10 man
Re: Couple of Odd Bucks.... James..I knew you are hungry for venison..but JEEPERS...I like mine cooked!!..LOL Probably from fighting..he has broken tines..so he is a scrapper... a gun shot should have spined him, could have been a just missed bow shot out of a tree stand?? PAstringking
Re: Couple of Odd Bucks.... im thinking either a fight or a missed placed arrow left that nasty gash that turned into a patch. sucks for the buck but he will survive and be a great buck next year. that other buck is nice too great pics
bigmoss
Re: Couple of Odd Bucks.... The way that his rack is broken up he has been fighting pretty good. I bet another buck pierced his hide with a tine and pulled back ripping a chunk of just the hide out like we would peeling back skin. toddyboman
Re: Couple of Odd Bucks.... I would say those injuries have came from fighting. Or maybe a barb wire fence. Just my .

wtnhunt
Re: Couple of Odd Bucks.... I have seen a deer shot with a rifle that had an injury behind the shoulder almost identical to the one you pictured here. I know for certain that a boy hunting the property behind us had shot a spike that I watched walk across my field that the wound was just like that. The boys brother told me had had shot the deer, and I heard him shoot like 3 times just 5 minutes or so before the deer walked from him out in front of me. Best I can figure he shot downward from his stand missing the spine and it skin peeled the flesh back where the bullet hit.
