Re: Official Off the Porch Gang signup thread!!!!!

Ok count me in. I curently own a Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag., 7mm Rem Mag (x2), 7mm Mauser ( Don't know if this counts), and am a very short period of time away from purchasing either the S&W 460 or the 500. Haven't heard too many good things about the 500, but who could turn down getting one of those just to run people off the range.

My Kind Of Place! I use a 300 Win Mag, a 300 WSM, a 44 Rem Mag S&W and a good old 338 Win Mag for good measure!

I got a .22-250 that I can do that with too...but I wouldn't take it out elk hunting!

Pick the gun for what its suited...I don't use my .300 win mag for ground hogs (although I could)...ammo is a little more pricey than the .22-250.

Guns are tools...pick the right one for the job...just so happens that the OTPG guns will do all the jobs!

Yes and no. I want to see anyone sit all day on a good prarie dog town and still hit targets at long range with an OTPG gun. Not that it won't kill a prairie poodle, but the recoil and barrel heat from burning kegs of powder at a time makes it, how you say...not fun.

Depends on your def. of fun...I'll still stand by my statement that an OTPG gun will do the job! wink.gif

I have an STW that'll take that bet. wink.gif I will grant you a smaller number of kills due to barrel cool-down time.. But that's just the mark of a true conservationist. Use enough gun and leave some seed for the next days' shooting. grin.gif

Come to think of it...a prarie dog town is usally out in the middle of a field and usally hunt/shoot them during the warmer time of the year. Don't think sitting all day out in the hot sun sipping cocoa would be much fun either! wink.gif

Well, I'm going to try to challenge your exception rule. I went hunting last fall with my .280. I know what your thinking, that doesn't qualify.

... but here is the exception part. I shot 6 grouse with it!

If I put a shot of whiskey in my cocoa, can I keep drinking it?
