Ohiobucks
Starts tomorrow, Dec 27 and is in for 4 days. The new Thompson Center Encore is dialed in a ready to go. I have a doe tag and a crop damage tag left, hopefully I can fill those both this week. Anyone else out there this time of year with a ML? Ohiobucks
Re: Ohio\'s muzzleloader season Big doe down! Shot a nice big doe first thing this morning. I was in the stand maybe 20 minutes. The TC Encore hit her hard at about 60 yards, she went about 100 yards down hill and piled up. Chris and I are cutting her up tomorrow. [/ QUOTE ] Yep, I heard that shot and just shook my head. I can't buy a deer this year. I don't know if Tom's the luckiest son of a gun, or that good. Maybe a combination of the two. He actually hit this one where you're supposed too. Quartering away up through the ribcage with no exit wound. It was a big doe, field dressed around 115. Highlight of my day was around 8:30 as I was sitting looking down into a bedding area when I heard grunting behind me. I turned around to see a doe trotting right at me. As I turned, she stopped probably 10 yards away, and there was a decent 8pt buck running her, nose to the ground. The doe's fawn was 30 yards distant. I slowly tried to take off my left glove as a left handed shot was all I had. She bolted at the movement. I probably could have rushed a shot at the buck, but he wasn't quite big enough. I had the fawn dead to rights but passed on her as she would have field dressed at about 30# I think. Another guy in our party hit a doe on the run, and we trailed it for quite a ways, but lost the blood trail. Hoping to get out Friday, but it's not looking good. Ohiobucks
Re: Ohio\'s muzzleloader season (pic) Here she is, the fridge in the background is about 9' tall, so you get an idea of how big we grow 'em in Ohio....

I'll tell Kim she can get her wedding band replaced then. Deer for dents, that's too easy. Me shooting a doe is like anyone else picking up a penny from a parking lot, it happens almost every time you go out. Good trade.
