Is this...normal?

Ok, I just thought I'd throw this question out there, not really concerned. You all know about my new Hoyt Rintec XL I got this year. I've noticed that if it is sitting around awhile and then if I go shoot my bow, there is a small creak when I pull back the first time, then nothing after that at all unless it sits around. I don't know exactly wherei t comes from, must be the limbs when they bend??? Is this just because it is sitting around or could it be something else? I haven't had any problems with the bow, it continues to amaze me,lol wink.gif I just wanted to ask though, see if anyone else has the same thing with their bow maybe?

Re: Is this...normal?

Thanks for the replies...Yeah the instruction manuel says the bearings don't need lubrication so I don't know if I should anything on or not. What would be suggested lubrication on the bearings? Must be the Cam & 1/2 maybe since they are on the Reflex also... I've tried to pinpoint it but since it is gone after the first draw, that's kinda hard. Thanks for the input! I don't think it is anything mechanically wrong...

I'm not sure about on a Hoyt, but on a Mathews that squeak is caused by the QCC Quick Cable connector. It is a little plastic clip that holds the cable to the cam. Being totally unfamiliar with Hoyts, I don't know if they use QCC's or not.

I must have had a brain fart, and gave some bad info. I meant to say the QCC is where the cable connect to the limbs, where the cable y's. Looking at some pics of hoyts, they look like the same connector pretty much as the mathews. I'm betting this is where your squeak is coming from. If it is anything like the mathews it will be worse in colder weather.

I circled in the pic what I think might be the cause of your squeak....

On Mathews bows there is a little casting flash on some of the QCC's that causes the squeak.

Like I said, I don't know if what I'm talking about is a problem specific to Mathews or not.

Re: Is this...normal?

this slight noise comes from the limb pockets. on some of Hoyts bows because of the super tight tolerances on Hoyts limb pockets. its where the limb is sitting in the bottom of the limb pocket.

Ruth, take a drop of a light 3 in 1 oil and add it to the bottom of your pimb pocket on each side. this should take care of it for you.

i had my Protec do the same thing when i first bought it and we searched and searched until we found what it was.

Re: Is this...normal?

heres a close up of the limb pocket. a SMALL drop ONLY of light oil on each corner. 2 drops only per pocket. also after oyur done hunting for the season, check the back side of the pockets. they can get dust and stuff in then and need cleaned out with a Q-tip..

this is the back side of the limb pocket. see where the bottom of the limbs contatcts the bottom of the pocket. this is where it needs cleanedout after the season is over.
