sureshot
this weekend was ok, I went out all day -xmas eve and called about 12 spots and got one coyote and a fox that I nearly cut in 1/2 and could not keep, not a great day, x-mas mornign we had to go out to the farm so i left a couple hours early and called a few deep draws were I would be out of the 45 mph wind, first stand had coyotes everywere could not decide what one, I had at least 8 coyotes within 250 yards of me, first one dropped and second one I hit and it ran into a draw, I collected the first one and could not find the second, seemd like a good shot but the wind across the draw might of moved it and caught him back to far,I went to the farm for dinner and after dinner headed north into the farmland for a hour or so[had to get away ] I seen a fox bedded in a field, I got downwind and crept along a drainage ditchto get in range,I was about 200 yards when a fox jumped up 10 yards in front of me, I waited till he got out 100 yards or so and a perfect up the rear hoping for not much damage and he dropped, I pulled on the second one and he was sitting, one shot and he was done, today first thing I did was went to a farmers to ask permission and as we were leaving one was in his bales, number one for today, next stand had 2 foxes out in a field so i went to a mouse squeeker and called them to about 200 yards, got them both, about 2 pm I called a finger of a huge lake and got a double, next stand was a big barren draw with little chunks of brush, as I got ready to set up I seen 3 coyotes about 600 yards away watching me,I was mad I did not call from farther back but started on the howler with challange barks and a few yips, they all took off but 2 more in the draw below them started to come in,I got in position and they did not coem were they were supposed to they came up high,I had a perfect 100 yard frontal shot and missed for some reason, I checked the gun and it was on, I just blew it I guess!I figured Iw as doen today so headed home just as the sun was setting,I had 1/2 hour left of huntign and I could see the elevater of town so I decided one more stand,I parked on the highway and walked 50 yards over a old rail track,I sat down blew a couple invitaion howls and started with a distress and before I could finish the first sequence ahd a coyote charging down the tracks from the west,I stoped him with a bark at 50 yards, finished my day perfect!! here is a pic of my x-mas furs, I did not skin them like I usually do right away so Now I have about 2 hours of skinning!!
