centralsaskhunter
I got mine last year with grandpa's .303, three shells on the second week of rifle season. 17 points redneck count, 13 scorable, three were broken but larger than one inch. Grossed 130 some and netted 117 6/8. Not very big, but it was more proud of him than any record buck I may shoot. Same with my mulie this year, forst mule buck, grossed 110 and netter 104, but boy oh boy was I proud when we brought him in to be scored lol. Does anyone have any pics and stories of their or their child, or neighbour's etc. first buck? BTW, I mounted this one, he's hanging in my room, finished him a little while ago, its not a european mount, its one with those kits you can get, ito looks kinda neat, and works pretty well for a hatrack, with all then stickers and kickers
Ravin R10 man
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. congrats on your first one, my first was a spike right at last light. I was sitting on a fence row watching a field, and he came up behind me at 15 yards. his head was silhoetted(sp)?...in front of a birch tree..thats how I could see he was a spike buck..got my 30-30 between the fence wires and shot him in the neck. All I saw was flames out of the barrel, then I heard him kicking, that was in '72..LOL
3whunt
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. way to go... what a great buck to take for your first. i shot my first deer, a 120 in 10 point, 13 years ago. i was sitting on a small draw about half way up a big ol' oak infested hillside. about three hours after daylight, we caught movement at the base of the hill. A doe and a yearling were the first two deer to surface. The fed up the hill straight towards us. I was shaking so hard from excitement that my dad had to hold the gun and put his arm on my knee to keep my leg from shaking. When they got to about thirty yards from my dad and I they started looking back down the hill, and you guessed it, Mr. Big Boy stepped out. He high-legged it straight up the side of the hill and stopped broadside about five yards from the two does. It only took one double-lung shot from my .243 Rem to bring him down. Thank the lord I had finally stablized my breathing and suppressed my heart rate enough to make the shot. The memories of that hunt will last a lifetime. Yours will too. Congrats again. TravisM
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. My first buck is the second smallest one I've killed so far. I think it was good for me to kill a small buck first, it's been all uphill since then. It was a tiny rack little 8 pointer, that I took during shotgun season in 1995. It was my first buck and only my third deer ever. It was a tiny little guy, but he looked huge to me coming through the timbers! I was proud of him then, and I'm proud of him now. You're first buck is always something to smile about. Here he is!

Guest Bonemass
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. I don't have a Picuture of my first deer anymore. It has been lost over the years. But it was 33 yrs ago when i was 13. My Unckle had giving me a 45# recurve bow. That fall I got a landowner tag and filled it with a basket racked 6pt my first week of hunting the back 40. A place in time I shall never forget either. I could still take ya back to the tree I stood in(no stand) back then. That was my first Trophy

need2hunt
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. Here's my first one, taken waaaaayyy back in 2001. Called in to a doe decoy with the CAN call. Funny how you can still see the arrow release and hit it's mark. Something I will never forget.
IN_hunter
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. My first buck is a story that shows how the rut can affect bucks. I had just shot my first deer ever and my dad heard me shoot. He was about 100 yards away through the woods so when we were hollering back and forth it echoed alot. He came down and was smoking a cigarette and we were hootin and hollerin, then he stopped and heard a grunt. He looks up and 60 yards away was a buck just standin there broadside. Dad handed me his gun and I shot, my first two deer ever died 20 yds apart from each other. He was a little basket rack 8 point that only had one thing on his mind, the doe I had shot. I will never forget it!!

wtnhunt
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. Guess I will post a pic of my first one too. Taken back in 1994 shot with a rifle on our farm, deer took 3 steps after the shot and fell within my view. Sadly the field pics were a bit too dim, but here is a pic of the mount. Guest Zemmer18
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. No pics here but my first buck was a 4pointer with 3 on one side and a spike on the other. Shot with a shotgun, open sights, on State land. 40 yard shot and got him in the neck and dropped him in his tracks. That was 15 years ago. Got my first bow kill last year at age 32. Again was a 4 point that was chasing 4 does. He came in grunting and was rubbing his antlers on a sapling. He chased and chased and finally walked right under my stand at 2 yards. Shot down through one lung and right through the bottom of the heart. Was a weird angle but did the trick. I remember both like they were yesterday.
