arrow32
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. I dont have a pic of my first buck to. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I remember watching him walk in and down below me just out of range then walked up the hill towards me turned broadside and at 10 yards i let him have it. I was so pumped over him. TOMSD5
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. my first was taken 34 years ago...it was only a small 5 point but was the biggest deer in the world that day.. he came walking down a forst covered oak ridge at about 100 yards, when he got directly in front of me he turned and walked within 10 ft of me ...i shot for the center of the neck but was shaking so bad i hit just off the front of the shoulder, he ran about 70 yards and piled up ...when i got to him another hunter was standing over him and i yelled that's my deer and he said he was about to holler and let me know where it was...lol yea right ...(i do have a pic around here but will have to scan it to my files} i've since then taken many more but this one will always stand out in my mind
Tominator
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. My first buck was shot in 1995 I think (I'd have to read the tag). I was in a new spot across the road. Saw a deer to my left and it ambled towards me. Turns out he walked 15 yards right in front of me. When I released my arrow, I heard this big CRACK! I thought "crap, I missed." I thought I hit a branch or something because the deer just took 2 hops to my right and stood there looking back, then his butt buckled once and I thought "YES!" He buckled again, fell, put his head back over his rib cage and died right then. That deer was heart shot and died within 15 seconds I'd say. It was night, so I never did take a picture. He scores a whopping 50" or so.
unioncountyslayer
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. My first was actually my first deer as well, an 8 pointer taken with my granddad's 30-30. I'll never forget that hunt, it was on Thanksgiving day back in '98.
Guest Southgeorgia_Sportsman
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. my 1st official buck came just this year, when 2 days after opening day and the Big Buck Contest, i shot a 10 point that outscored the winning buck of the contest by 13 inches. just 2 days late!!! couldve won $500, a free mount, a john boat, and a rifle, but even without all that, that evening is an evening that i will never forget. Guest bowcrazy
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. First buck was my first deer with a bow last year right around Halloween. At sunset I had about does step out all within 20 yards of my stand. I was going to take the biggest doe, but the fawns were very skittish. After letting them settle down, next thing I know out comes this 10 pointer down the trail. He walked out less than 15 yards broadside. I was able to draw back, and shoot. Right as I shot he either heard the string or the does & jumped. I hit him just in front of the back hips, he stumbled away only 25 yards. Definitely exciting way to get hooked on bow hunting. Guest Andrea
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. Congrats on your buck. Mine was in 2002. A little spike. Picture looks goofy, don't wanna show it. LOL Then on thelast day of the season, that same year, I shot a 9 point. He's hanging on the wall. LifeNRA
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. My first buck took me 16 years to get! I was not going to be happy with shooting a doe, so I never got any doe tags! Since then I been taking bucks pretty regular! Since we are doing firsts! Here is my first archery kill, this year. Only been bow hunting for two years though! 15 years between the two!
Straight Shooter
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. Very nice buck and congrats on it being your first! You'll be on cloud nine for a long time. I can remember mine I got. I've still go it on the wall, it's a small six pointer I got in Alambama. I was on a one week bowhunt with nine other guys in my group. I was the only who hadn't kill a deer with a bow. The first orning of the hunt I took my six pointer 10 minutes after daylight. I took the big buck pot as well as the big doe pot for the week! I was stoked and been addicted to bowhunting ever since.
DSGB
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. Very nice buck, especially for your first! I killed mine when I was 10 years old in 1991. It had three points on one side and the other side was broke off at the base. My grandfather is holding his ear and antler in the picture. He's 72 now and I still hunt with him. How ya'll like my goofy Elmer Fudd hat? LOL
M00N
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. My first buck (and first deer), in the sense of a male deer, was this one. He was so small (50lbs or less according to biologists) that he didn't even have buttons formed at all yet on his head. He also had a facial deformity with his eye sockets. The biologists said he was very late born and was suffering from piebald skeletal genetic deformities since he came from an area with a high population of piebald deer. As for my first antlered buck. He's out there somewhere and one these years I will get him, hopefully this year.
Tom2008
Re: Everyone\'s first buck. Here is a full story on the hunt for my first buck. The alarm went off and everyone got up at the cabin. It was 4:30 am. We all started getting ready to go and got in the trucks to drive to the public land we hunt on. We arrived at Pillsbury State Forest at 4:45. We got out loaded our gear up and we all went our seperate ways to our deer stands. It was a really really cold morning and the only deer we saw all day were 2 fawns that ran by before first shooting light. Opening day wasn't good for anyone. The next day my step-dad told me that we were going to go on his Uncle's land that was only a short walk from the cabin. The first stand we went to was a tripod stand looking over a ridge. We saw nothing and left around 7:30. We walked out to another stand that a 13 point was shot from the other year. It was a really nice place to sit with a small pond on one side of us and some small thick trees on the other side. 10 minutes went by and we saw a King Fishcer walking around the pond. Not the bird though the varmint one. It started to rain and then it snowed. At 8:30 am my step-dad taps me on the shoulder and says there is a buck coming out of the brush. I look over my shoulder and there he is only 30 yards fromthe stand. He walked around the tree to my side of the stand and stopped perfectly still next to a tree. His vitals were showing so I put the cross hairs right on the shoulder and shot. He jumped up and ran with his head down right into some thick vines and got his antlers stuck in them. When he finally wrestled out of them he was all tired out and laid down. I put him out of his misery and it was over. My first ever deer was down and I was one of the happiest kids in the world. Now the work came. We had to gut him and then hike 3 miles back to a farmers house to ask permission to take a truck through his gates so we could get my deer out of there. Then we went back to the cabin met up with the rest of my family and we went to get my deer. I was the only one to get a deer that weekend.
