Turkeygirl
Just wondering, will a field tip kill a grey squirrel? I'm assuming yes but wanted to ask. My bow is dead on at ten yards and several times during deer season I had squirrels under my stand so this weekend I want to go out and see if I can get one or a couple with my bow

Tominator
Re: Bowhunting squirrels? Yep. But, be forewarned, if you're shooting aluminum straight down into the dirt you will bend a lot of arrows.
arrow32
Re: Bowhunting squirrels? They sure will. When i get bored while sitting in the treestand ill try and take a shot at em. This year ive had no luck the dumb things wont get off the trees while there close enough for me to fling on at them.
Turkeygirl
Re: Bowhunting squirrels? I have carbon/graphite arrows, same ones I use for deer. I put my field tips on and I am planning to go out today after I shoot my bow and see how it likes the Mini S coil stabilizer. Trying to get a squirrel with bow, well if I get one that will be a trophy for sure, lol:)
Guest rackman69
Re: Bowhunting squirrels? If u don't have any blunts try putting a washer behind your field point. It will help you not loose arrows, and will cause a big shock factor. p.s. works great on rabbits
Dakota
Re: Bowhunting squirrels? I've been trying to shoot the rabbits in my back yard w/ my compound. Hasn't worked and I missed at about 15 yards last night. Maybe I'll use my recurve. Dakota
Turkeygirl
Re: Bowhunting squirrels? I saw Cabela's sells some small metal things to place behind the field point for causing better shock and preventing lost arrows....they have 4 edges to them.... arrow32
Re: Bowhunting squirrels? [ QUOTE ] if you miss will the arrow get lost underground? [/ QUOTE ] If your shooting from a treestand no. From the ground you have a good chance of loosing an arrow. I lost one saturday when i shot at a squirrel i didnt see the twig infront of me or i would have hit him. Arrow went up a little and over the little backstop i was shooting at. If your going to shoot at em on the ground try to have them above you like on the side of a hill a little or you a little above them. I still havnt found my arrow. Dont matter to much. Shaun_300
Re: Bowhunting squirrels? I shot one while practicing one day last summer. He popped up on the woodpile right above my target when I was in full draw. I raised the sights and drilled him. Looked like a shishkabob!
