slughunter
Re: Anter Traps? That looks like a good one Randy, different than what we do but I might have to try something like that. -shane
Randy
Re: Anter Traps? I saw it on a thread somewhere here. Someone posted a pic from cuddebacks web and you could scroll through it and I saw it there. I thought it was a neat idea and probably worth trying. IN_hunter
Re: Anter Traps? You can also try one of those metal haybale things that cows feed out of. Randys idea is probably cheaper and more logical because it is quite a bit smaller. Sure they will work. The buck sticks his head in to get the food and hes bound to hit his antlers on it at some point. Just dont make the opening to big.
Randy
Re: Anter Traps? [ QUOTE ] would that actually work????????? [/ QUOTE ]I don't know if it will work or not. I saw it here somewhere and thought that it might work. I can't take credit if it does.

Bownarow
Re: Anter Traps? Really all you need is some wide mesh wire and t-posts. Form your setup into a V or W configuration and fill it with grain or whatever. I built one back when it was legal to in Illinois but mine has been out of service for a few years now....stupid CWD! Tom2008
Re: Anter Traps? [ QUOTE ] well i just dont thik it would work the deer would distroy that around here [/ QUOTE ] Why would they destroy it? Deer dont' just go and attack everything in sight. hunting_boy
Re: Anter Traps? cause they get there head in that they would have it in pecies cause they can get violent
Tom2008
Re: Anter Traps? [ QUOTE ] cause they get there head in that they would have it in pecies cause they can get violent [/ QUOTE ] It is meant to knock the antlers off so once the antlers knocked of the deer would get out. nutz4bucks
Re: Anter Traps? antlers just don't fall off at anytime they got to be ready.. now saying that i have heard some deer actually get stuck in them and die. not willing to risk a deers life for some sheds. Just seems lazt to me if deer are there (eating on piles of corn) then take a walk and enjoy nature and find the sheds like like god intended naturally

Shed antler traps work great and a lot of well know Hunters use them. just my .02 -shane
Tom2008
Re: Anter Traps? I guess I should have added this with my last post. If the antler traps were put out at the right time then yes the antlers would probably come off right away after a deer forecully tried to get out of one.
