Swamphunter
I am looking for a decent scope for my Rem 700 30-06. The one I have now has a 3" eye relief and it tends to get me between the eyes about once a year. I want something with at least a minimum of a 3.5" eye relief, and it must be variable power preferrably 3X9. I want to try an keep it around or under $300.00. Also does anyone know where I can find those limbsavers recoil pads??
OJR
Re: Recommend a scope for me I would go with a Burris Fullfield II for the scope. The reason I like this scope is they are good for early morning or late in the day! Also in shadows they will gather light real good! I do have a Pentax and it gathers light real good also! You might try Midway for both the recoil pad and the scope. Might be able to get the scope cheaper some other place!
AJ
Re: Recommend a scope for me The Burris Fullfield II is offered with binocs or a compact spotter for under $200. I have it on my .50 cal Knight and it is a very decent scope. If you can put a few $ more towards it you can get the Zeiss Conquest for $350. You can get the Limbsaver pad from Cabelas. wtnhunt
Re: Recommend a scope for me Got limbsavers pads on my daughters browning and on my winchester 12 gauge. Personally I like the pachmayer decelerator pads better. In a scope, comparing the burris fullfield and the nikon buckmaster, the buckmaster is a little brighter in low light, but both are good scopes for the money. I have the fullfield II on my .270 and the wifes .243 has the nikon buckmaster, her scope is just a little brighter in low light conditions, clarity in the two are about the same. Got my fullfield from cabelas with a pair of the landmark binos back in the spring in a package deal like AJ mentions there. The buckmaster scope came from wal mart and was on clearance after season a couple years ago and was $150.

Guest ronin
Re: Recommend a scope for me The Aetec Master Series is a very good scope for the money. I've had one for a few months now and put it on a .223. It was very easy to zero and the ergonomics are nice. The cope is super clear and I think it is comparable to many other expensive scopes. It is also less than $200.
BM06
Re: Recommend a scope for me Nikon Monarch UCC 3-9X40, Nikoplex Reticle. This scope falls into your description, and is excellent. I have one on my newly acquired Remington Model 700 CDL LH .30-06. Good scope, easy to use and adjust when shooting at the range. Also, I would second wtnhunt's recommendation of the Nikon Buckmasters scope, I hunt in really thick timber in West TN, and killed my best buck so far, a 125 class 8 pointer with a Buckmasters 3-9x40 four years ago. Both are excellent choices and will do everything you want 'em to do.

Not the nicest scopes on the market, but I havn't been dissapointed with mine.

M00N
Re: Recommend a scope for me We use Leupold scopes on our Remington Model 700 SPS Stainless in .30-06 and never had a problem with it. I have one the Ultralight models on my Remington Model Seven SS .243 Win, too and love it. The Leupold VX-II come in 3-9x40mm with 3.7" Eye Reliefs for around $300 in Silver or Matt. too_pointer
Re: Recommend a scope for me I have the Nikon Pro-staff and Buckmasters scopes, and think for the money they are 2 of the best out their for clarity and brightness. too_
WaCoyote
Re: Recommend a scope for me Just buy a decent scope. I bought a "bargain" scope a couple of years ago and everytime I went out the zero wandered. Thats extremely frustrating. I have 2 Burris FFII and love them. I'll be buying another as soon as my AR is done being built. I would also have to recommend the Bushnell Elite series. I also have one of the and it is really a nice scope. Lots of people talking about Nikon these days, I think they are worth a look.
