HarvDog
Well, it's time for me to start looking at rifles and I'm thinking that I should go with a 30.06. Any suggestions?

Jeramie
Re: 30.06 [ QUOTE ] savage, tikka, remington, browning are all great rifles [/ QUOTE ] Word..... That is a perfect list. You can buy any listed above and be in good shape. My next Rifle will be a .30-06. Im buying either a Tikka or a Remington 700. I know Browning A-bolt is a great rifle and no one should over look the savage but those are my two favorites, namely the 700. Its not necessarily much better but more like an old friend..... wtnhunt
Re: 30.06 Lot of good rifles out there Harv. Personally I like the remington model 700's and have been hunting with one chambered in .270 for the past 11 or 12 years or so. Browning a bolts are nice too. And the savage for the money are some excellent shooters. Think my next rifle will be a 30-06 or a .308.
AJ
Re: 30.06 Ok, just to add to your homework, how about adding the Howa 1500, Weatherby Vanguard (same gun as the Howa, just costs more), Weatherby Ultra Light or Accumark, The Kimber 8400, the Sako 75, Winchester 70 (if you can find one), Ruger No 1, CZ 550, Browning BAR, Stevens 200, Savage 114, Remington 700 or 798, Winchester 1895 or the Browning BLR if you like lever guns. This should keep you busy for a little while.

TexasDeerHunter
Re: 30.06 I bought a Remington 700 CDL in 30-06 a couple of years ago and I love it.

bearcat
Re: 30.06 I have a Remington 700 BDL SS in 30-06 and a Winchester Model 70 Blackshadow(Walmart special) also in 30-06. Both of these guns will shoot MOA out to 300 yards if I do my part. The cheaper model 70 Blackshadow shot a 3 shot group of 2 3/8" at 300 yards once. I am particularly fond of Remington model 700's. I have owned them for over 25 years, they are great rifles in my opinion. They are made right here in the good Ole USA. The January 2007 issue of "RIFLE" magazine has an excellent article on the Remington model 700 rifle and also on the great 30-06. bowana
Re: 30.06 Although I like Remington Bolt guns, don't overlook the Ruger. A great gun for the money and it comes with rings! They shoot great, but thier triggers are something left to be desired. A good gunsmith can handle that for about 40 bucks.
