I almost shed a tear when I heard they'd hanged him. I mean, how could they have wasted that rope when a bullet would have done the same thing and is so much cheaper. I tell you, these 3rd world countries have no sense of economics. LOL

They can reuse the rope!! smirk.gif

Re: Ding Dong

Well I'm glad it's over with because I was tired of hearing it on the news but what about what it says in the Bible "Thou shalt not kill".... Actually my mom said it when they announced he'd been hung last night. I mean maybe he did deserve it because of what he's done but the Bible is the ultimate word....Guess Iraq has a different take on things...when I heard they do hanging, I was like holy smokes, that's still allowed....?

Re: Ding Dong

For anyone interested, here is a low quality video of the hanging from start to finish. Via a camera phone or something similar. This is the entire thing.

The real story is that Saddam was taunted by the Sunni hangmen who were chanting religious chants, etc. He was hanged in a building used for torture of Sunni muslims under Saddam's reign as an additional poke in the eye. Saddam was in the middle of telling them to go to hades when they dropped the gate.

Warning, graphic...well somewhat....tame compared to prime time TV these days.

Ruth,, the Bible also says "An Eye for an Eye " also... wink.gifwink.gif

Exodus 21:24 and in Deut. 25:11-12 concludes that they should give back in kind. After all, the Bible says, "...eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.."

Either way I see it as a JUSTICE being done for mankind.... wink.gif

Re: Ding Dong

Was kind of interesting, heard on the news they said there are still two states in this country that allow hangings. Dont remember which ones they said they were though.

They said Saddam wanted a firing squad, but they denied his request. Hanging is somehow not as dignified a way to be executed.

Washington state allows hanging! In fact, it was not too many years ago that they hung a guy!!

Yeah Orlan, that was one. Thinking the other was on the east coast. Really think for some reason that they said Vermont, but I could be wrong, hard to hear the news over the kids sometimes.
