Drift Boating the Colorado

A friend gave me a call this morning, Want to float the river and shoot some ducks? (The Colorado River from Palisade to Clifton, about 12 miles). It was a last minute thing well past prime hunting hours but the day was warm and sunny. We could have shot a lot of ducks but settled for one each, I was holding out for a goose or two. Anyway it was not a bad way to spend the afternoon.

Note how snowy it is in western Colorado after the two huge storms thumped the Front Range.

OSU,

The River stays open all winter so it is a magnet for waterfowl. There are probably 20,000 canada geese that winter in the Grand Valley. I won't even guess at the ducks but there are quite a few. This was the first time I've float hunted, I'd sure like to buy one of those drift boats, mostly for fly fishing.

The way you are hunting isnt that done with out a motor and like you can not have any camo coving you or the boat? That sounds fun and congrads on the greenhead.
