Re: Guide Gear Treestands

I'll let you know William...theres 2 of them on my front porch I just took out of the boxes.

I'm glad I have a game cart because I wont be carrying these on my back anywhere to setup grin.gif

Happy to see they cared about what they were making...all the welds look very strong!

Unexpectedly the seats are in RT Hardwoods cool.gif

Re: Guide Gear Treestands

Yesterday my friend Dave came over and we put both of the stands together!

I'm definitely happy with the quality of construction.

All the needed equipement for installation was also included(ratchet straps, cam strap for stabilizing bar, ropes).

The foot platform looks smaller then you would think to be comfortable but I've been used to lock-on stands with large platforms. With the top section sitting on the floor in my livingroom I tried out the stand including standing on the foot section to see how it felt.

I closed my eyes and was able to turn around without any problems having plenty of room for my feet. One thing that impressed me was that there were no "Pops" in the expanded metal decking when stepping on it for the first time(a process I got used to doing with loc-ons so it didnt happen while hunting).

Found one thing that has to change before it's hunted out of though...the shooting rail has to be padded in some way. When folding it back over your head to allow the front to be open(as in the picture in the link above) it's metal to metal.

I'll have to add some water pipe insulation and fasten it with some cable ties and that will fix it.

I showed the assembled product to the wife when she got home from work last night. She is new to hunting and did not want to get off the ground with a fear of heights. She looked at the stand and liked the room it had but mentioned that she would probably try it out because of the railing that made it look safer cool.gif
