slughunter
I am really starting to get mad at the flash on Leaf River game cameras, its so bright it washes everything out thats within 10 feet and I want to set it up on a trail but the deer will be within that 10 feet. So is there anything that can be done? Its not horrible but it doesnt make the picture as clear as I want. Thanks for the help Here is what im talking about:

dogdoc
Re: Leaf River Flash what model are you using? I just got one of their new models and it is doing the same thing. The older models didn't do that--I guess they are trying to increase flash power to get those further out pics.
slughunter
Re: Leaf River Flash I have last years DC-2BU. I love it but the flash is to much. I might switch to the IR soon, not sure. -shane
PAstringking
Re: Leaf River Flash i would deff try and cover the flash some. another thing to try would be to put wax paper over the flask to tone it down a bit. i think that Leaf River must have gotten a lot of requests to extend the range of their flash. wtnhunt
Re: Leaf River Flash Have the same model and dont have that problem. Have you adjusted the white balance? Could be that it might be off, that would make the pics more washed out looking.
1997xltlimited
Re: Leaf River Flash I got the new dc6 and it does the same thing when the flash is turned on high power. When I switch it to low the pics are much better. Can you adjust that models flash?

TreeWalker
Re: Leaf River Flash Wow.....complaints about too much flash power ?!?!??!.......I'd rather have too much, than not enough.......there's always something to do about too much....partially cover the flash....move it further back........but what can you do about not enough...... I've had nothing but compliments about the night time pics from my leaf river cams......sure I get the occasional washed out pic because I was set up to close, but i'm thankful I have that extra flash to reach out there....it's nice when the flash matches the detection range....... Hope you get it figured out.....lot's of good tips given so far.....
NS whitetail
Re: Leaf River Flash seems to me that my leaf river did that until I set it so the display screen had up in the right hand top corner --- the arrow, the A and the little house looking symbol. I read the manual to figure it out

NS whitetail
Re: Leaf River Flash I just looked in manual daylight pictures are too white -- make sure flash is set to "automatic" -- EV - exposure value may be set too high - reduce also it says --- you can reboot and restore factory default settings by turning main power off, then remove the batteries and reinstall them after 10 minutes -- stored pictures are not lost. hope ya figure it out
