for all you pennsylvanians out there who hunt cyotes, is this unusual, snowless, warmer climate effecting coyote hunting and how they hunt their prey? rookie question, yeah i know. Lol

I found what's effecting our yote population the most the past couple years has been the deer population. Once the deer populations in an area got to a certain amount we noticed the yotes moved on to find more prey elsewhere and that areas you'd find that had sign of a large herd of deer living in it had the most sign of yotes being around. I'm sure this weather isn't helping things either because the deer are more spread out not in large groups due to it's not cold enough to push them do so. Plus I know last week we saw signs of a second (or possibly third?) rut kicking in around in some areas of the state. Meaning the deer are traveling a lot right now and being pushed from area to area by the rut activity. Key to getting a yote anymore seems to be finding an area with heavy deer sign, sometimes this means getting private land permission or long and deep hikes back into the woods on the public lands.

i have a weird experience with my property and yotes. when we have warm winters or at least it stays warmer longer into the winter then we have more rabbits. not just more but bigger rabbits. regular rabbits and swamp rabbits. when this happens, the yotes are everywhere.

i am not exactly a predetor hunter but these are my expereinces in NorthEast Pa
