We road to a place called Cades Cove in the Smoky mtns today. I thought I'd share the pics...

Well it was a good day in the Cove! We were there at daylight and this was the first buck we saw!

Another one of him!

Another buck we saw. He was tending several does and Richard decided to play with him. There was a smaller buck standing closer to us so Richars Snort Wheezed to make it sound like the smaller buck did it. That poor little buck frown.gif When this buck heard it he run that little buck all over the field!

Well we happened upon these seven points feeding in a field with a doe they were tending. Here we go again. Richard turns his head and snort wheezes. All the people look around at us like he is crazy but the bigger seven point came to full attention immediately! We were so surprised at what happened next.. The buck penned his ears and went straight for the other buck who met him head on... They fought for over 15 minutes!!!! laugh.gif It was amazing I felt so blessed to witness it! I took several pics then remembered I had a vidoe setup on my digital so i got 7 min and 30 seconds of some good fighting! Here is the pics and when I learn how I'll post the video!!! wink.gif

Re: Cades Cove pics

I absolutely love Cades Cove!! I vacation in the Smokies twice a year and if I don't get a daily fix at Cades Cove, well...... let's just say my truck doesn't need me to pilot it to Cades Cove!! It knows the way! Great pics. I'll be in the Smokies for spring break!

Andrea I used a Kodak Easy Share that comes with the printer dock but I didn't have to zoom much I was always stalking right up on the action! Which is easy there as long as you don't rush they dont' feel threatened. I'll try to get the video up. Its the computer not how to do it.:(

Re: Cades Cove pics

I was up there before Christmas and saw several good bucks. However, it seemed like the there weren't as many big bucks as years past. I only saw 4 that would go around 140ish. I normally find at least one that is 160ish or better. As soon as I get them developed I'll post some pics.

I go to Cades Cove around three times a year and you are right the bucks are not what they use to be. For that matter body size wise neither are the does. It is a slow decline but it is odvious overpopulation has taken a hold on the deer there. I hate to see that too. Two or three years ago can't remember right off in one round we saw over 200 deer they were coming out into the fields after a snowstorm when the sun had come out they were everywhere!!! I hope they don't let the deer populations get so out of hand there frown.gif That would be a shame if disease come through or they continue there size decline.
