muggs
Still think your boys are deserving of a shot at the National Title?? btw- **breaking news** just heard on ESPN...the Wolverines finally showed up for the Rose Bowl, sometime around 9am this morning. Go Bucks!!

You know, I am 99% confident that Ohio State is going to beat Florida and I have 32 points in our bowl contest riding on it.........but.........sitting back and watching the verbal onslaught you would take in here from about 20 different people is almost making me think it might be worth rooting for Florida. Outside of the opening drive, Michigan wasn't that impressive against the Bucks...and Troy with and Co. did whatever it was they wanted to against the "best" defense in the country. I think Boise State is deserving of a shot at the Buckeyes, but not USC...anyway, neither one of those teams has enough to compete. All I know is Gator better hope Todd Toddbow, or Zed Zedbow, or What Whatshisfacebow has a few miracles up his sleeve...because if Florida can't put up some serious points, its gonna get messy...quick. MCH
Re: Where\'s all the Michigan fans.... Rival games are always hard to predict(OSU vs Mich) and normally close. However, if USC were to play Ohio State and went into halftime within a touchdown......I believe USC would win. As for Boise State, Ohio State would cruise in that game. Boise State beat an OU team that lost its starting QB at the first of the year, had their number 1 tailback playing for the first time after being off for like a month and played in a weak Big 12 division. But you're never sure what John David Booty is gonna show up. He was exposed against UCLA, but played really tough in the Rose Bowl, he's still young...as is that team. I think next year they'll be hard to beat. That being said, Lloyd Carr has lost 5 straight games vs. OSU and 4 straight bowl games...when is it time to can that guy?? Michigan flat out got waxed and out coached in the second half. He is a good regular season coach but when the big games come he can just not win them. Time for him to leave. muggs
Re: Where\'s all the Michigan fans.... Michigan is always gonna play the Bucks tough and vice versa. The Buckeyes botched two snaps that gave the Wolverines 14 points. Take those two scores away and you're looking at a more realistic score. I know, I know...its all part of the game etc...etc... I get that. I'm just saying that the Buckeyes out played the Wolverines (look at Pittman and Wells' long TD runs) and the score didn't really give you a true explanation of what went on. buckbuster11
Re: Where\'s all the Michigan fans.... Well we can argue all of this until we are blue in the face. But, the bottom line is Boise State should be playing USC and the winner of that game should be playing for the national championship against the winner of Florida v Ohio State. Then we wouldn't need these arguments.

That being said, if done correctly, a playoff system could generate as much...if not more revenue than the current system, but its a matter of selling the University Heads on that. [/ QUOTE ] I know thats what everybody says but, how in the world could having a playoff with a few extra games make less money then the current system? I can't understand that at all. Ohio State hasn't played a game in what....50 some days? That's another thing I hate about this system. How can you have a 2 month layoff between the regular season and the championship game.Could of had all kinds of friggin playoff games in that time period. That would be like the NFL finishing up their conference playoffs by the end of January and having the Super Bowl in April.
muggs
Re: Where\'s all the Michigan fans.... Imagine how much higher the interest would be. That would really up the TV ratings, so commercial air time would be worth huge $$. That's only the tip of the ice berg too. All I know is having a March Madness type bracket to fill out for college football would be unreal. Not to mention all the different matchups you'd get out of a playoff....it needs to happen. But after that game, there's no doubt in my mind that USC needs to be mentioned as a potential title game contender. Florida deserves it under the BCS system we have now, but in a playoff scenario, I think USC would be there instead.

[ QUOTE ] if they had a playoff system then the 2 best teams would always play for the championship [/ QUOTE ] I don't know if that would be true 100% of the time but I also think a playoff would be good for college football. There are a lot of positives and negatives with the playoff system. If one is ever started it need to be limited to a max of 8 teams---once you start playing games of that magnitude your setting up these kids for injuries that might affect their career in the NFL. You must also remember these kids are in school and also have responsibilities in the classroom. Adding an extra 3 or 4 games to their schedule would be pretty darn tough--especially since most of the conferences have a championship game also to play.
