c_lou
Just read the Nick Saban took the Alabama job. I figured all along he would take it. He had way to much success at LSU and too little at Miami. This opens the door for Philly defensive coordinator to be offered the job. Now you have a coach and recruiter that likes to jump jobs? Good Luck

AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Saban to the Tide! I think Chris by doing this move no NFL team will want to have him now, you have to question his loyalty. I always thought the Pros is where all coaches want to be someday. Now they seem to be just following the Brinks truck!!

I bet he's tired of dealing with the players that want to play more for the money. I think I read somewhere on ESPN that he is making 4.5 million with the dolphins--so I don't think it's the money. Ohiobucks
Re: Saban to the Tide! 4.5 million with the Dolphins with NO job security. After the Dolphins have another loosing record next year, he was more than likely going to get fired. He only had 3 years left on his current contract as well. 4.5 for 3 years is 13.5 million. Hiezinga was reportedly shopping the team around anyway and couldn't find a bidder. He sells that team, who's to say the new owner doesn't clean house and can everyone, starting with Saban? This new position with the Tide is worth 32 million over 8 years. A fully-guaranteed 4 million a year isn't too bad at all, not to mention the bonuses for bowl game wins... He is a college coach, not a pro coach. As Todd stated, there are some coaches more prone to the college level. He is one of them. He will succeed at Alabama, he can recruit with the best of them. Good move for him IMO.

If hes that great of a coach, he would have won a title at MSU before leaving. In college, it ought to take 4 years before you can see a program develop with a new coach with recruiting and graduating. I'm not exactly sure how long he was at either school and how long he was at LSU before he won the championship. But I do know he left MSU before the end of his contract. preacherman
Re: Saban to the Tide! Congrats to the Tide. I think he will be a great coach. What I really loved was when he got off the plane in Tuscaloosa, all of the reporters were gathered in front of the crowd..........he said, "if you wouldn't mind moving, I would like to meet the fans!" I thought that was funny. Don't matter how much you dislike any coach or any team.........you have just got to love college football. There is no better atmosphere in America! Guest Finn
Re: Saban to the Tide! Sorry, I hope Alabama loses big time. I hate coaches who break contracts and run for the money, same as I hate players who do the same. Javon Walker is a scumbag, as is this clown. Wayne Huizenga gave him everything in Miami and he failed, big time....then quit before his contract was done. His interviews in the past month show his lack of character and/or maturity. "I'm not going to be the coach of Alabama"...really? Why not just say "I won't address this at this time" Instead, he chose to flat out lie. Loyalty only goes so far. My family comes first. Now whether his decision was based on his family's well being or frustration from the pitiful job he was doing at Miami right now, the decision was his to make.
