Re: Congrats LSU

He's been doing it the past 2 years pal. Before the Sugar Bowl...where was all the hype?

One game, does not make or break you...especially when you're playing against overrated Weiss and that ND team. Outside of Darrius Walker, Quinn, and Samardjia...there's 0 talent on that team.

Go back and look at the last 3 years. He has gotten signifacantly better. His completion rate was 67.8%. It's gotten better each year. I think the reason there was no hype is because he is at LSU. And we all know there is an East Coast bias in sports.

I still say all things being equal he goes #1 or #2. Of course you have two of the worst people drafting in those spots.

I will agree that the team needs a lot of help, but please don't bash on Weiss. Most of those guys on the team are left over from the truely overrated Ty Willingham era. If in 4 years ND is still getting whipped by the big time schools, then I will be the first in line call him overrated. Until then let's give him some time to bring in his own recruits.

Don't get me wrong. I think he's gonna be a great one, but this always happens. People love to hype up guys, especially right after draft day. I just don't think he'll go top 2. He's got a shot at top 5, and he's a definite top ten pick.

Given that the Raiders need a QB which would you rather have a system guy like Quinn or a constant performer like Russel?

Quinn didn't do squat before Weiss got there.

I remember watching Quinn as a sophomore, and I thougth to myself, "man that kid's got an arm...and perfect mechanics. He's gonna be a good one." He was on the radar before Weiss for sure. Weiss tutoring him only refined him.

Are you serious about Weiss Lou? That guy is a terrible game planner. The trouble with him is that he falls into the Belichik trap. What I mean is, he's bought into the idea that he's a genius...I would too if that's all I heard from everyone. So now he tries to get cute and out think everyone, but in doing so, all he does he outsmart himself.

Beside...if he was the genius everyone says he is...don't you think he'd have realized he needs to watch his diet by now. wink.giflaugh.gif

I just want to give Weiss a chance to get his players in the system before I jump on the guy. I have yet to see a good ND quarterback come out. Put aside Montana and that whiner Thiesman. They are always hyped up to the draft and then stink it up in the NFL. I really hope Quinn can be different because he does have what it takes to be in the NFL, I think.

Don't you know all of us fat guys are geniuses. grin.gif

Weiss is gonna get monster recruiting classes...with players like that QB Claussen out of CA. So he's gonna win for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins a National Title in the next few years actually. But that doesn't make him a good coach. His hype, rep, and that school will bring in top tier kids from all over the country..but that won't change the fact that he's only a decent game planner.

Good point about the ND QB's. But I really think Quinn is different. Just watching some of the throws he made showed me that. What I like best about him his the fact he makes all the NFL style throws...slants, fades (especially to the endzone).

Watching Russell, was like watching backyard ball. He pretty much had time to let his WR's get open and he hammered the ball to them. I like his arm, but he's a project. Quinn is the more experienced, polished QB...and he's been playing in a pro system for 2 years already.

Russell may go on to be the better pro player, but if I'm picking #1, Quinn is the safer pick, and I'm thinking that most NFL GM's are gonna feel the same.
