It will mostly be used for hunting and work but of course fun as well . I have a few models/brands that I have in mind but need some help. Here is my wish list for the quad: IRS 4X4 (locker would be nice) automatic Year : 2003 or newer 400 class or larger price - $4000 I like the sportsmans (400 and 500) and I am also interested in the Yamaha Kodiak or Big Bear. birddog Posted January 4, 2007 Report Share Posted January 4, 2007 Re: Which Used ATV Honda is the best on the market...the end: I own a Bombardier Quest 650, I have owned a Honda Rancher, and an Arctic Cat 300: Hands down the Arctic had the best ride, the Quest has the most speed and power, but the Honda just kept on going! The Sportsmans great for the first 2000 miles, then I have heard a lot of guys start having problems with them. But if IRS is a huge wish then I would go with the Yamaha Grizzly. But trust me you won't be the least bit dissapointed with a Honda. The newer 2002 or newer have really come a long way and tests are going much better for them. You can get more bike for your buck that way. If you have any questions about the durability of a Polaris, just click on the pics link below and check out mine. Find a knowledgable person to help you check your choices and don't be in a hurry. I ride Polaris but don't have anything against any brand. All of the major brands these days are about as equal as you can get, trust me, I've had atleast one from every brand over the past 10 years. From the options you have listed my choice would be a yamaha kodiak, I had an 04 and loved it. I liked the feel and power of it alot more than my rancher before it. Those things just wont die. Btw, for the money you should get into a bike easily. I have a 250 and a Vinson 500 and absolutely love them. My friend got ripped on a Polaris Magnum 500. The thing has been in the shop 4 times already. We rode with a guy this summer and his Polaris 500 stopped running right when we got up past 5000 feet in the mountains. I just sold my two fourwheelers so i could buy a new polaris ranger 700 I use to have a honda rancer 350, and a polaris sportsman 400. I likes the sportsman the best because it was both fast and had fourwheel drive. The rancher wa also ok but it would not go as fast, but it was all time fourwheel drive. I have had my ranger for over three weeks now and if you are willing to spend the extra buck you should purchase the ranger. good luck with your decision. The Polaris has a more comfortable ride, and gets up my hill better than the Quad did. Seems to handle the mud better too because of the height.
