AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Broadheads I like fixed G5 Montecs but have some the Grim Reaper Mechanical and that too is very impressive. Tons of good choices out there for both.
DU_man_84
Re: Broadheads im a muzzy man always will be, i love fixed blades, dont trust mechanicals, but i would say the spitfires are good mechanicals from what ive heard, it definately is a preferrence what shoots better out of your bow, but you know what they say mechanicals are for guys who cant tune their bow, lol

Leo
Re: Broadheads Whatever you choose the biggest mistake you can make is believing these heads will fly just like fieldpoints out of my bow. Then just going out and hunting with them. Trust me on this. Sacrifice a couple for practice to make sure
HOYTnMUZZYboy
Re: Broadheads Muzzy 3 and 4 blades, but get out there and try a kind or 2, but like Leo said make sure you take some practice shots with ur broadheads, cuz there not all the same, and every arrow flys differntly. They can get pricey, but ushally you pay for what you get. Good Luck!! Happy Trails.

magnatecsteve
Re: Broadheads I have only taken one deer with a mechanical head, the old original Vortex heads. It was actually my first deer too. The broadhead did the job, but one blade sure took a beating and was twisted very badly. The arrow made it all of the way through, but at a longer distance it probably wouldn't have. I'm sure todays mechanicals are much better, there are several guys that I know who usw them..mostly Spitfires as well. I just don't know how well they would do if you were to accidently hit the shoulder blade though. I know some guys have blown right through it and others that have lost deer hit in the shoulder. There are alot of guys that prefer the cut-on-contact style where they have a razor sharp point with two more blade surfaces behind. I prefer Muzzy heads with the chisel tip. That way if I contact bone, it is more likely to break through the bone before my blades. The Montec line are becoming a very popular head as well, they are incredibly strong and a very good steel. It's all up to you, just choose which ever one you think will bring that animal down the best.
Turkeygirl
Re: Broadheads I shoot Nap Thunderheads in 125 grain fixed blade but will likely switch to 100 grain for next season. Been using them for years, so has Andy and we havev't had any problems with them.

Straight Shooter
Re: Broadheads Try either of them with your new set-up. I'm sure you'll get good results out of either, but I prefer fixed over mechancials anyday. JMO
wtnhunt
Re: Broadheads Welcome to the forums. Been really happy with muzzy broadheads here. All I will ever use. Will be setting the wife up with muzzy heads for her bow as well.
maddhunter
Re: Broadheads I started using the Crimson Talons (fixed blade) this year and really loved the results. I bled 3 deer out in 50yrds and a turkey in 30. They inflicted massive holes in all 4, all pass throughs. They fly great and maybe a little faster and/or higher than my feildpoints. I'm shooting right at 285fps. Before that I shot only G5 Montecs.
Guest fishinmatt
Re: Broadheads I used spitfires this year and got a complete pass through on a big deer at 30 yrds with nice big entry and exit holes. The one thing that i do like about mechanicals besides good arrow flight is the large cutting diamter you get with them, which by rights should make for a good blood trail. matt a.
