Early drop season?

Re: Early drop season?

In general, the further north the earlier antlers drop - just like the timing of the rut. Here in B.C. right on the WA state border, most whitetails shed during the last 2 weeks of December. Being a little further south, I would expect Illinois to be a little later, but not much.

The first buck I saw minus one antler this winter was Dec 17. Since the beginning of January, the only buck I've seen still sporting antlers is a little spike.

As an aside, our mule deer don't shed until end of Jan into Feb, the moose in Dec, and elk about Mar/Apr.
