Guest Sureshot_10
I was wondering what kind of calls people are using because i am just starting out calling and i am having a hard time i have bought Takem 6 with Barney and he sits down and explains how to call.. Any one have any other tips on calling? I would appriciate the information. I love to go out and hunt but it seems like your more appart of the hunt if you are part of the calling. thanks Sureshot_10
dogdoc
Re: Calls I would probably start off with a double reed call. They are a little more forgiving and a little easier to use. A decent easy to use double reed call that actually sounds pretty darn good is the RNT Quackhead call. I picked one up at Wal-Mart this week for 9 bucks--clearence sale right now. Once you get the double reed down then time to move to a single reed. There are lots of single reed calls and one out of the package that I really like is the Primos Phat Girl. I've got the one with the acrylic barrel. I think I paid like 50 bucks for it. I got two calls for Christmas this year. The first one was a RNT acrylic Old Style single reed. A very easy to use call that sounds really good. The other call I got was a Big Guys Best Single acrylic. This call makes the duckiest sounds I have ever heard but is a pretty difficult call to blow. I have several instructional CDs and the best one I have is from Carlson Calls www.carlsoncalls.com The instructional cd/dvd help but the best instructions come from a friend or buddy that is a good caller. I have a good friend that worked for several call companies and used to compete. Your buddy can listen to you call and usually tell you how you sound. Once you learn to call you can take just about any call and sound good with it. good luck todd
