RT Camera Club

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in having a RT camera club. Nothing official or formal by any means, it would just be something that would be fun and might help all of us learn a little bit from each other. Don't need the newest and best camera just need to like to take pics and share them with others.

What I'm thinking is basically having a "subject" for everyone to shoot. A subject can be anything from a leaf to a landscape and we just designate one per month. That gives you a month to try to find the time to get out and shoot the subject and then we just post them in a monthly thread. You can describe your pic or if you were trying to accomplish something specific, include your camera settings info if you want or you can simply post your pic - no stress, no mess, not a prize driven thing just fun with your camera and getting to share.

I probably should have run this past bill first but I just kind of thought of this and posted it.

What do you all think, would you be interested in trying something like this or no. Just reply here to let me know and if there are some interested maybe we could try to start something up for February.

Re: RT Camera Club

Sounds cool, and I would be interested in joining as a learning and fun experience, not competition. As long as the subject is something I can find in my backyard or around the house I could see me doing this. If it was something I'd have to go in the woods to photograph like a deer or to some other place though, I'd have to pass. I'm disabled and cannot drive a vehicle, so I have to rely on others and couldn't see reason to run them out so often and waste their gas on something non-profit.

Even if it isn't a competition, I think people should still have to post their camera specs though. If this is meant to be a helping thing amungst other camera operators it wouldn't do them any good to just see a picture and not know what equipment was used to make the picture. I also think if the person uses a computer program to enhance their photos they should let others know they did so, too.

It won't take the fun out of it to require the camera specs + a yes or no to photo enhancement through software. I'm just saying if you're going to base this on a learning experience for each other and not a competition that it should still require those minimal things otherwise it makes the learning not as useful to not know what type of camera and if the photo was enhanced through software or not. Just my $0.02.

Re: RT Camera Club

Well, let's get this started. I think the subject needs to be "Open" to interetation, soooo. Let's make January's assignment, "Plain as Day". I'll set up a pinned entry thread. Let's try to keep it to just sumissions and comments about submissions. Keep the other questions here.

Re: RT Camera Club

Sounds good Bill!!!

M00N - I agree if people know what there specs are pls any retouching please list them. But also I realize that some people might not have a SLR camera or not necessarily know what all the numbers are - if your in that category don't worry about it and just participate and enjoy the assignments. We'll all learn things along the way, just share as much as you can.

Also needless to say we won't be sending out membership cards grin.gif so if a topic comes up that you want to try feel free to jump in - if the topic for the month is something you don't want to try we won't kick you out of the club grin.gif

Gary is there any way of adding a few sub catagories under the Photography section ?

With trail cams and home brews becoming so popular it would be nice to setup some up with links, how to's etc,

Let me know

Thanks

bigmoss,

Having sub categories in the forum is beyond/above me. That would be something that the photo mods and Scott would have to look at to see if they feel there is a need for.

"Plain as Day".

Maybe this needs a little more explanation! Not quite sure what you mean. Any picture that sticks out plain as day?

BTW, we need to keep the pics to a certain size or the dial-uppers will be killed with mega-sized pics trying to load up on thier PC's! Make it like the photo contest size that we use. 5x7 or 7x5 max., with a 72 DPI.
