Re: Could Junior leave DEI?

The way he improved getting back with the gang this year, I'd say he'll give it a chance. If this year isn't promising, I can see a change. He knows he can't beat Dad in championships, but he wants to carry on the name as a champion real bad. Now I'll read he article!

OK, he's not worried about a contract. Please! His love for the red Budcar will pass if he has the right people and equipment around him. The Bud car is all he knows in cup. But he'll jump ship if he has to. I would love to see him driving for Childress myself. I hope he jumps.....! grin.gif

Mrs. E is all business. If she doesn't think JR is doing his job, he might be gone.

Maybe Michael Waltrip will be looking for a backup driver!

[/ QUOTE ]Don't start old man! All kidding aside JR. is DEI when it comes to over all performance. She would be crazy to let him walk and Sr.would roll over in his grave. I would say the ball is in his court with the fan base he carries for DEI and Budweiser but chemistry is everything when it comes to performance.

Re: Could Junior leave DEI?

An Earnhardt in anything other than a Chevrolet? Get real!!! Especially a Toyota. Speaking of Earnhardt SR rolling over in his grave....I think he already did when Toyota came into Nascar. To be honest....I don't think Theresa should have any say so in what he does. How often do you see her at a race and who would she be if she weren't the widow of SR? Heck, shes not even the mother JR and DEI was basically established by SR to give JR a race team and car to drive. Think about it......"Dale Earnhardt released (fired) from Dale Earnhardt Inc." crazy.gif

Re: Could Junior leave DEI?

Seems kinda hypocritical for Teresa to criticize Junior for not giving enough effort toward being a driver when she appears to be the owner who gives the least effort to be at the track to lead her team. I love DEI, but I think maybe it would be better to

1. Have Richie Gilmore take over the whole operation or

2. Merge with RCR somehow while still keeping its identity.

I think Earnhardt is one of the smartest people in the business, I get the feeling that DEI would not miss a beat without StepMa.

Well he owns the company and i doubt he would leave it!

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually no....Theresa owns the company, Jr. is a "paid employee" I don't think Jr will leave DEI...yet. I mean it is his namesake and I think he feels that he owes DEI another championship won by an Earnhardt. He may jump but I don't think it will be for a few years and it wouldn't surprise me to see him and RCR team up later in his career.

Re: Could Junior leave DEI?

He wants part ownership... that's part of the reason the negotiations are slow going. I don't think Teresa wants to give it up. She may see Jr. trying to eventually run her out and then where does she go? She'll be nothing. At the same time... if she loses Jr. to another team... she has NOTHING!!! Tough situation. I'd personally love to see him go to Childress and run the Black 3 car myself (even if it has to be Budwiser as the sponser).

Junior would never end up in a Hendrick car. Why? Because Junior doesn't swing from other side of the plate...if ya know what I mean. tongue.gifgrin.gif
