Turkeygirl
Ok ladies, what do you like to collect or have a collection of? Besides shed antlers, I have a Breyer model horse collection, a small Ertl tractor collection (lol, weird I know, I love farm stuff - I'm a country girl!), I have a few various turkey related things, and a small rock/arrowhead, and stamp collection. What about you all?
M00N
Re: What do you collect I collect anymore only Breyer Model Horses, Native American items, Hess trucks, and coins/currency. I have a baseball, basketball, My Little Ponies, McDonald's toys, and Pog collection that I have stored to sell for money on a rainy day and don't collect them anymore. Still have them but with little ones running around the house I keep them put up. My 10 year old daughter collects state quarters. Has all to date. [/ QUOTE ] You'd have a field day digging in our yard then. Where we built our house back years ago used to be a dump that they filled over and leveled off. If you dig deep enough you hit ash and under the ash is tons upon tons of old bottles, glassware, pottery, etc. Everytime we dig for whatever reason in the yard we end up spending more time finding mysterious bottles and stuff than actually getting the work done. lol My parents have quite the collection in the other room. I'll see if they'll let me take a picture of it. It's pretty cool you can find whole bottles burried under the ground even whole lightbulbs sometimes. Weirdest find so far was 3 jars of dentist teeth with teeth still in them. Most heart breaking find was a World's Fair glass container that was badly broken, if it was whole would been worth quite a lot.
Guest TnLadyhunter
Re: What do you collect Hmm I guess the only thing I collect is hunting and outdoor related christmas ornaments. I hope to get a 12 foot tree to put them all on someday!

M00N
Re: What do you collect Finally got around to the pictures Andrea. This collection is probably 1/8 of the total amount of bottles and glassware we've dug up over the years. We have a bit more in the basement that needs cleaned up and identified before bringing it upstairs and a whiskey jug that we dug up that was slightly broken, but all the parts broke inwards inside it, so we're going to keep it possibly repair it because it's a stamped one. Everything pictured below was dug up out of our yard when we laid the footer for the house, the post holes for the deck, the post holes for the fence, or my box turtle pen. Overall Picture Of Upstairs Collection Top Shelf View Second Shelf View Third Shelf View Bottom Shelf View Coca Cola Bottles (2 Different PA Marked, 1 VA Marked) Vase or Pitcher (I'm not sure mom wasn't around to ask and dad just called it a flower thing with a handle lol )
Guest Andrea
Re: What do you collect WOW MOON!!!! That's quite a collection!! And you guys dug up that vase too?? Incredible!!! I would LOVE to come dig around in your yard!! LMBO I love finding antique stuff. Are those brown glass bottles marked CLOROX?? Cause they look like the one my father-in-law dug up. I will take pics of my collection and post them tomorrow.
M00N
Re: What do you collect Yep, we dug up the vase when digging a post hole for the deck. My mom was surprised it was in tack. It's only got one flaw in it and that's a handle is missing. We dug for hours for it couldn't find it, but it doesn't take away from its charm any to have it missing. You're correct most those brown bottles are Clorox bottles. We found tons of those bottles, ended up taking one of each size and kind and putting the rest out for the Recycling after offering them for free with a sign out front for a month to the locals. Oh and for clarification those long tubes in the one picture are old testubes from either the local doctor, dentist, or school at the time. We had people come in the house and think they are something else not so pleasant and they aren't that. lol Looking forward to seeing your pictures. (If you're wondering about the M&M's......that's one of the last packages that was printed that said PLAIN on it. ) [image][/image] [image][/image] A few toys [image][/image]
M00N
Re: What do you collect That's a nice collection Andrea. That package of M&M's would get eaten for sure in this house on accident. Too many little ones running around here constantly in the family not to mention my father and grandfather that have serious sweet tooths. lol

[/ QUOTE ] Don't mean to jump into this thread, but I found this very interesting........our old farmstead was built right across the creek from an old Bowery Dance Hall.....I still have the old wooden sign that reads BOWERY - DANCING ---> Anyways, as a kid...after each years spring flood, I used to walk the creek bottom and find stuff all of the time....I've found old crock jugs and vases.....old china cups, silverware.....etc......sadly my dad sold the home place when he retired.....about 6-7 years ago.......so I haven't been out since, but I'm sure a guy could find a ton more stuff.....I've always been tempted to check out the grounds with a metal detector too..... HuntnMa
Re: What do you collect i love walking the creek bottoms after it's dried up from floodin'...i found an old turtle wax bottle with wax still in it,thought the turtle was cute, lol...but nothing like what y'all have, that is so cool....i usually give my bottles that i find to my brother, he sorts through them and keeps the ones he likes...
