MichiganHuntr1
How do you set up your waterfowl spreads. The most common are used im sure, such as x, v and j for water. But anybody ever try something different? Or do you sit in yours if no wind?
dogdoc
Re: Hows your spreads i don't really set up the X or J---I usually set up a couple family groups in the water--not too tight-- couple families on the left and a couple on the right--with a nice landing hole in the middle. I might put one lone hen in front of me--she's the one doing the calling
double_drop
Re: Hows your spreads for water set ups i just use two lines. One line of decoys go out from the back of the boat and another spread goes out the front of the boat. Works awesome they fly up the middle of the spread and try to land right in front of the boat. DU_man_84
Re: Hows your spreads we do the j hook some times on the open channel of the river, well also do v's on the main channel too, but when we are in the backwaters, depending on the time of year depends on how many dekes we run, we will run our dekes on each side of the boat out front and leave a landing hole right in the middle and then normally put the geese off on the left or right side past the ducks depending on the wind
ilhnter
Re: Hows your spreads My buddies and I just started duck hunting this year. We really don't use a type of spread. We basically just went out there and threw out decoys out. There was no strategy to the way we put them out. Each time it worked good, we killed ducks everytime we went and had good hunts. Next year we may try a type of spread, who knows or we may just wing it again.
