buckee
Re: NIAGARA FALLS 1911 Here's a few more. I was born and raised in Chippawa, just a mile or so up the river from Niagara Falls. People talked a lot about the freeze up of days gone by, and the ice bridge. Here's a few more pics Apparently, there was an ice-bridge that formed up river from the falls, eventually, cut off the water flow. Here's a cool picture of the American side Looks beautiful at night WINTER DESCENDS ON THE FALLS Ice bridge, ice mountain, and frozen falls of 1936. People are illegally crossing the ice bridge and walking across near the brink of the frozen falls! Photograph courtesy of Niagara Falls Public Library. Tominator
Re: NIAGARA FALLS 1911 Pretty cool. If any of you get the chance to watch PBS's documentary about the falls, watch it. Very interesting. The flow of the river now is only 1/2 of what it normally is because of the water diverted for hydroelectric power.
