-39 yote

I wasn't going to go out Saturday morning. Temp was -39 with the windchill but I figured I could dress warm enough to last for an hour so I decided to give it a try. I slogged through the snow for about 1/2 mile to get to a big dry slough that I've seen yotes in before. I set up in a clump of willows and started with the snowshoe in distress every 5 minutes or so. After my 3rd series, this female came hopping in through the near belly deep snow from my right. It was kind of brushy so I didn't see her until she was 40 yards out and closing. The shot was about 25 yards and down she went. The toughest part was dragging her back out to the truck through all the snow.

Re: -39 yote

Thanks all.

My gun is a Stevens 200 in 223 shooting Federal V-Shok Premiums with 55gr Ballistic tips. I did the camo myself.

Coyotekiller16, I was using a custom snowshoe hare in distress call by Vaughn Leuschen from Varmint Masters in Saskatchewan and was calling every 5 minutes or so. I really like the call and have had good success with it.
