plannerman
Anyone trying this product, either loose or "sticks"? I'm interested in your results and/or opinions.
str8shooter48
Re: American Pioneer Powder It's Clean Shot reintroduced with a new name. I think it works fine. The ffg is kind of coarse and gets a bad rap for inconsistancy. I haven't had any issues with that yet. Its noncorrosive, easy clean up, and no need to swab the bore between shots. From what I can see it don't develop the crud ring thats common with 777. Some say its not as powerful as 777, no big deal up your charge a bit if thats what it takes to get the results your looking for. I shot Cleanshot from the day I bought my Encore until they were drove out of business over the pellet patent infringement law suit. After that I bought 777. Don't get me wrong 777 shot well. but the crud ring and swabbing between shots was a turn off for me. This year I figured I'd try American Pioneer. I liked it and I'm going to stick with it. My brother shoots ffg too. He tried the sticks he said they were inconsistant. Personally I prefer powder to pellets or sticks. It gives you more flexability when trying to work up an accurate load. My pet load with APP is a Precision 235gr QT40 over a charge of 120grs of APP and a Win 209 primer. This combination gets me a 1/2" ctc group at 50 yrds.
