Pinewood derby this Saturday

Hey all, my son's pinewood derby is this Saturday and I can't be more psyched. He needs to win this......he needs some victories in his life right now.

We built a pretty cool looking variation of my winning car when I was a cubber. It is a soft and thin wedge with a small raised cockpit on it. We drilled 1/4 inch holes in the side and pounded lead into it with most of the weighting in the back portion of the car.

We have done everything we possibly can to get the speed up on this car. I have scoured the internet and we focused on both speed and beauty.

The paint scheme is two coats of enamel primer. Then two coats of emerald green (proper sanding of course). Then we hit it with several coats of a clear spray that has very fine lime green glitter in it. Lastly, we sprayed it with several coats of glossy clearcoat. Lastly, we waxed it with some liquid car wax.

There is nothing I can think of that we can do to make this car faster.

Here is a pic of the raw car. I will add a finished picture later...I thought I had one on my system here.

I won't ask y'all to say a prayer because that would be praying for other kids to lose and I don't think God chooses sides like that. But positive energy would be appreciated.

For some reason, I can't edit my own post but here are a couple finished pics:

You can see the glitter...the finish is smooth but has an almost line-x type texture to it:

And now the finished project:

The car is hard to photograph but in the light it is like there are a million flakes of diamonds in its paint job.

I gotta install the graphite and then we should be ready to go for the weigh in on Friday and the race on Saturday.
