Re: Monster Alberta Bucks

VH,

Since this is mainly a Whitetail site, you may be unaware that there is a bunch of Muley fanatics out there that have been discussing this buck since it hit the email and internet highway. On one Alberta hunting site, one guy says he knows the guy in the pic and says the guy owns a World Record whitetail too. Could be sour grapes I suppose, but there are many issues in the pic that doesn't make sense. The colour of the antlers are too dark for real muley antlers, there is obvious cuts on the cape where one would suspect the orginal antlers were removed, the antlers don't sit right on the head, and so on and so on.

I'm the one who posted the pic here and am one of those that said this thing is probably fake. If you want to believe it's real, more power to ya. I wish and hope that it is. Like I said on MM, it keeps me dreaming that one day, while glassing a remote alpine basin, BAM, a buck of this caliber will fill up my spotter. smile.gif

Re: Monster Alberta Bucks

BCBOY,

Now there is a sensible reply that I will respond to...you are quite right this is mainly a whitetail forum, and like I said in my earlier post that you seemed to have picked up on unlike DesertTrophyHunts, I said I have never seen a live Mulie there for I wasn't qualified to say if the pics were real or not. I never said I was 100% behind the gentleman in question, I have never heard of him.

My point was if a person was to discredit a picture at least offer some proof or reason as to why, not to just blurt out that it was fake because so and so says so. I like you hope that mulies like these that are in question do exsist. So in short what I was trying to get across I myself assume that when a picture is posted to be of a real deer/animal until proof is offered to dicredit such said photo. As for these particular photo's I have no clue, like I said, I have'nt the knowledge of Mulies to make such a judgement.

Re: Monster Alberta Bucks

VH,

You jumped a couple of guys and get called on it and I am the one that is not sensible? I told you why I thought it was not real before you even asked for it and then posed a question about the Rompola Buck based on your statements and you have to make it look like I am the one not being sensible. I suggest you go back and read my original post on this subject where I stated why I felt the pic was not of a real deer. I would also like to know your thoughts on the Rompola Buck. Whats ironic is that we are in agreement about how its rediculous to discredit others without having all of the facts but my observation of the rack in question was that is looks nothing like anything I have ever seen before and I have seen thousands upon thousands of Mule Deer. Like BC I am in hopes that the deer is real because it gives me hope that I might stumble onto one like this one day.

I think that everybody here that has used the word "fake" has also stated that they hope that the deer is real. The shape of the antlers are a bit off but if I killed that particular deer I would expect that anybody that has looked at a ton of mule deer would think the same thing. I think that if it were real we would have seen more than just one pic or would have heard more about it. I am not saying it is real or not but that there are a ton of questions that I look forward to hearing the answers to.

DesertTrophyHunts,

I stand corrected on one point "The shape of the antlers are a bit off but if I killed that particular deer I would expect that anybody that has looked at a ton of mule deer would think the same thing." You indeed offer an explanation and for this I apologize.

But to my defence I did not jump on anyone.. I questioned one post and it wasn't even yours, I asked for the name of the B&C measurer. Also you stated the I supported a guy that I don't even know, I never made a statment to the fact that I did or did not support wether these pics were real or not.

And if I got called on any of my statements that needed correction, I feel that's what this forum is for.

It seem's that we have gotten off on a bad foot. If I seemed like I was trying to demean you are any comments you have made I apologize.

Re: Monster Alberta Bucks

Here's the name of the measurer for ya. I do like to do my homework when it comes to big monster muleys. Looks like this is in fact a fake. Got this straight off an Alberta site.

"Ab England a B&C scorer out of Lloydminster confrimed it was a fake.

Hi

talk to the hunter that MADE this deer up. he has the hole country going. he does this for a past time. he at one time had a taxidermy shot. he like to build antlers. looks good though but not real.

VH,

No worries here, sorry if I got on you to much as well. I will post a link of a 300" deer I saw on the hoof this year. I can vouch that the deer on the link is 100% authentic.

www.muleycrazy.com

Scroll down about half way and a little to the right on the page and you can see this slug.

PS, you guys have no idea how bad I want the Rompola Buck to be real so we could take bragging rights away from those dang Canadiens, LOL

DTH,

Even if the Rampola buck was real, you wouldn't be able to take the Chip Lake buck from us. And of course, that's the only one I care about anyway. smile.gif LOL!

Re: Monster Alberta Bucks

The Chip Lake (Broder) buck was shot in Northern Alberta in 1926. It scores 355 2/8 net nontypical. It is the current World Record and most believe it will never be beat. There is a pic of it on B&C's website.

Truer words have never been spoken BCBOY. It could quite possibly be the record that will never be broken. That is an AMAZING deer!

If you go to the B&C website you can see that the deer is in fact a fake. The story is under Trophy Watch section. Thats too bad.

Re: Monster Alberta Bucks

Heres s shocker for you. That last pic of the non-typical mulie... its fake. That guy lives in my town and hes a taxidermist on the side. I met him a couple years back, and he showed me some of his work. He had fabricated over a dozen of huge deer antlers. He takes small antlers, cuts them and puts them all together to make a set of non-typical antlers. Its actually very real. I havent seen this particular deer, but i saw another mulie he fabricated and it was unbelievebly huge. The truth had to be heard someday.
