if it is a good rut stand in a natural travel funnel i will hunt it for the whole last week because most bucks are just passing through anyways. early season i always switch it up and will rotate stand areas to keep things fresh

Depends on how well the deer are coming in to that particular stand. If I've never been spotted and they are continually showing up then I may hunt it for about a week. Otherwise, 2 days max if nothing is showing up.

All depends. If it's an oak flat or some other type of food source, 3-5 days as long as I don't get busted. If I get busted, I'll lay off for a while. If it's a travel corridor, it depends on what deer I'm seeing. If I don't quite know where to hunt, I have one stand that I use primarily for scouting. Some deer move past the stand, but it is placed there primarily because My woods is an L shape and I can monitor movement from the woods to the bedding area in the CRP. I'd say if you are hunting a stand and don't spook deer, it's all up to you, but if deer are on to your location, back off for a while.

Hey thanks to everyone for the input. I definitely have to go with wind direction here in Illinois and like some of you said, it is rarly the same direction for more than three days. Wind direction and thermals are the most important factors when i choose a stand to hunt.

Re: What is the most times in a row you will hunt

My best luck has always been the first time of the year that I use a stand. I generally rely on a lot of scouting and a lot of stands so that I do not over-disturb an area too many days in a row. Part of that is because I am a ground-stander and have quite often found deer tracks in my stand, which tells me that the deer are getting educated even when I am not there. Too many days in a row, and they start coming in looking at my stand.

Of course the other thing is that here in the hill country, we seldom get the same wind direction two days in a row and I will not hunt a stand unless the wind is fairly steady and from a perfect direction. So hunting the same stand 3 or more days in a row is highly unlikely. Two days in a row is actually kind of rare.

I suppose I should also add that this line of thinking is only from the standpoint of bow hunting. The gun gives me a whole lot more latitude as far as re-using stands in a more consecutive fashion.
