IllinoisHunter
My father and I are thinking about disposing of a large group of coyotes that are in our deer hunting area. Unsure the best way to coyote hunt as we never have been. I believe in Illinois coyote season runs year-round, with no bag limit. Just have a couple questions I need everyone's help with: Since we can't use high-powered rifles in IL, what is the best weapon of choice (.22, shotgun, etc)? What's the best techniques and calls to use and in what fashion?
DU_man_84
Re: Thinking about starting to coyote hunt if you got a .22-250, .223, .243 they well all work fine, you can use a shotgun, lotta people will use a shotgun with buck shot or BB up to like 50 yds, as for .22 a mag if possible some people say up to 100 yds if you are extremely accurate and can make a perfect shot, but i prolly wouldnt go past 50 to 60 yds with a .22 mag, im kinda a begginner yote hunter too, im just telling ya things from what ive heard and some of my personal experience from shooting yotes over bait piles
