Tony
Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores i shot a Indoor round yesterday and i shot 300-56X. i plan on trying to shoot at least 1 indoor round per week this summer. i got my Field archery bow kinda dialed in also. i was grouping around 3.25 inch groups at 40 yards. i now need to set a 50 and a 60. then run them through a chrono to get the speed and print off the marks. 50 and 60 this morning at a big indoor warehouse.. me and razortec1 are going to build our own bow presses. we think we have come up with a good design. go tthe plans off of the internet. next week im buying a flecthing jig and some glue and a bunch of vanes and going to get started in fletching my own arrows. Tony
got my field rounds shot last week. 40 and 50 yards were good. 60 not so good. could only maintain 7.5 inch groups at 60 yards. got my new 22 series goldtips back form the arrow guru. i had just 5 done so that i can test them out. they seem to shoot great. im off to shoot a 3d in aobut 5 hours with razortec1. that will be the real test. we are headed to raccoon ridge in stuart iowa. gary has changed the course a lot from what i here and it should be fun. Tony
i shot Raccoon ridge with Razortec1( tim) and we had fun. i shot 8 down 552 out of 560. just a few to many 8s for me. the Ultratec is shooting pretty good and the new arrows are flying fine. that was the test bunch ( 5 ) now im ready to set the other 12 up the exact same way. i need to recheck my marks. highlights of the day? shooting a 10 on a tough 43 yard elk down hill, getting a 6 on a groundhog target at 43 yards for double points. busting one of Razortec1s nocks on a 27 yard deer and i called it.. next weekend im off to Panora Iowa to shoot some 3D. Guest IShootPearson
Well Tony, that aint bad shooting........BUT,you actually were down more than 8 because you chose to shoot the bonus targets,so you were shooting for a total score of 580,not 560.I shot my new Pearson Z-32 for the first time on 3-D since I got it and shot a 544(out of 580),so I was very pleased to say the least.Had 2 hitters on the 80 yard bluff shot at 4 1/2" AND 4 3/4".........................Going to the Archery Tri-Athalon next weekend.....should be a good time.... Tony
you are correct. i did shoot for the double points targets and got a 16 and a 12 so i shot eight 8s total for 56 targets. still not bad for my new arrow setup the nght before on my ultratec. you nailed the Bluff shots Brett? man thats good shooting for that far. and 544 is pretty good for the bowhunter class for the first time out with your new bow.. good luck at the Tri-Athalon next weekend. Gator
Well, I qualified for the ASA State Championship on Sat, lucky for me there were only 10 shooters in the group!!!!!!. Gotta decide now what arrows I will shoot. I picked up some GT Pro X Cutters, and they were hitting high at 30 and 40yds compared to my XT's, think due to the way they sit on my rest. This has helped me close up my pin gap TREMENDOUSLY, but I only have 4 that fly worth a crap. I'm gonna shoot them for a little while, then decide what I wanna do. Would like to find some ULTRALIGHT X CUTTERS, about half a dozen raw shafts, and build me some from scratch
Tony
Gator lots of X-cutters floating around on the net. good luck with them. they weigh 7.8 grs per inch. the Xts 5575 weigh 8.2 per inch. so the X cutters were lighter by almost a .5 gr per inch. if your shooting a 30 inch arrow, thats 15 grs lighter. so that could explain why they hit high. i shot a local shoot last sunday and i shot like dog meat. 522 out of 560 possible. way to many 8s and a couple 5s in there. i also found that i have a tendancy to creep before i shoot. "Thanks Matt for seeing that".. which is why maybe im seeing low arrows sometimes. i nailed a bunch of targets past 40 yards. next shoot is sunday at 0800. me and tim are headed to Turkey Ridge. thats in St Charles Iowa. just about 15 mins away. fun shoot with 40 targets and some tough shots. Gator
Total arrow weight was only 4gr's different. MCH hit on the idea that they may be at a higher elevation on my rest, hence impacting higher, which is fine by me.
Gator
Well, I lost one of them X Cutters, so I went back to my XT's last night. Went to Tryon, Ok today and shot Deep Fork 3D Range. 25 Targets, I shot a 226, had 1 ZERO and a 5. The zero was on a JACKELOPE, 25yds, I swore that sucker was OUT THERE, that is until I shot. I can't complain, I did ALOT better than what I expected to do. Doesn't look good for me to get to any shoot the next 3 weekends, my big fishing trip is coming up, and the next two weeks are set aside for that
Gator
Scores are up for the shoot this weekend, looks like I finished 10th, out of 21-25 shooters, I can't tell how many in my class. That zero HURT, but ALL zero's do!!!!! Found out there is a shoot in Cushing thios weekend, and I have been wanting to go there BADLY, so I may try and get away and make a shoot there, but it all depends on weather and what I can catch!!!!!!!!!!! Tony
me and razortec1 shot St Charles Iowa : Turkey Ridge 3D on sunday morning. i shot well 381 out of 400. razortec1 had a funky day and shot 347 i think. but he was soooo happy that he busted one of my pin nocks on one of my arrows. no problem, i just replaced it and went on.. had fun and made some really good shots on a some long up hill and down hill shots. i shot a 5 on a bedded buck i thought was 43 but was only 40. in my defense my release went off a little quick before i could get the pin where i wanted it. next weekend is the 1st leg of the IBO Heartland Triple Crown in St Joseph Missouri. looks like rain but im sure hoping it clears up. that place in the rain and mud is NOT fun.. hopefully i can shoot 2 shoots next weekend. Montezuma on sat and St Joe on sunday. Montezuma is really tough and a good practice round before St Joe. Shoot Strong Tony
Tony
i shot an IBO qualifier in St Joseph Mo on saturday. it was the first leg of the Heartland Triple Crown. i shot like i normally do on this super hard course, bad.. i shot 346 with just 7 11s. i can not explain in words how hard this course is, but my first target was a 43 yard turkey across a ravine. too bad i thought it was 39 yards, " 5":p 49 yard bedded bucks, nasty turkey shots, lots of sever uphill and dowhill and across ravine shots. the day didnt get much better after that. for some reason my yardages were pretty good, but i have developed a creeping problem. i tried to worked it out and shot better the second half, but the first half was murder. i have a lot to work on if i plan on rebounding at Omaha and shooting a lot better in 3 weeks. Tony
i went to Panora Iowa to shoot some practice saturday and found out they had a shoot going on? so i teamed up with another guy and shot the course. i shot a 538 out of 560 with 19 center Xs. i shot very well and it was nice to see i could actually nail some yardages. scoring was 10, 8, 5. seems like the new 65% let off cams i put on are working out great. they are helping me maintain BT through the shot which has helped me come close to eliminate my creeping problem. Tony
i shot at Mid Iowa Archers in Indianola Iowa on saturday with Ultratec1 and Blake and i shot a personal best for me. scoring was 10, 8 ,5. i shot 370 out of 400. i had a coulple of 5s and started out kinda rough, but got it going on some long shots. how can you nail a 55 yard elk and then shoot a 5 on a stupid turkey at 28 yards. oh i thought it was 34. im off to shoot the 1st leg of the IBA shoot out in Chariton Iowa this morning with Blake. Tony
i shot the 1st leg of the IBA shootout at Chariton Iowa with Blake and Lynn. while this course is not on the long side for shots , it demamnds that you be very precise in your shots. i had 12 8s and 28 10s. no 5s. i scored a 376 out of 400. i had 6 10s i just missed by a 1/2 inch. just couldnt buy a 10. had fun and watched the ole possum ( Lynn) shoot 391 with pins. sure hope he never comes to Open class. the Unlimited stakes were the same as ours. Memorial weekend coming up is the 2nd leg of the IBO Heartland Triple Crown. its in Omaha Nebraska and im looking for a better showing this time around. Tony
today was the 2nd leg of the IBA shootout in Ottumwa iowa. i had a good shoot for me. i shot 16 up on a 48 target course. i got beat out by Ultratec1 by one point. he shot 17 up. we were in the presance of greatness today, because Lynn shot 52 up with pins yet! 532. 480 was the base score. sure was fun shooting with friends today. im hoping to make the last IBO shoot out in late july. with my Job situation going down the toilet i dont quite know where i will be at that time. im off to Atlantic in about 3 hours to shoot a 3d with Lynn and Ultratec1. it will be good practice for the last leg of the IBO Heartland Triple Crown which is in the end of june. Canuck2
Tony, glad to see you're shooting lots - and shooting well. Sorry to see the news regarding your job, but hopefully new opportunities will open up quickly for you. I've been mostly bummed out for several months with respect to lack of shooting, since shoulder surgery in December. It has only been the last few weeks I could even try to shoot and, with my Protec at 36 lb, I can't hold at full draw at all yet. Nonetheless, I went in my first competition of the year yesterday. It was the zone qualifier for our provincial seniors games (coming in September) and I had to use a little 20 lb recurve. I qualified because our zone didn't have the full complement of maximum allowed shooters. My score on the 900 round?..........208 (I'd roll my eyes, but I can't find the icon for it). Oh well, at least I'm shooting again.
Gator
I ACTUALLY shot UP on a course!!!!!!!!!! Now mind you, it was 30yd max, I am practicing for the ASA Stae Championship in the Bow Novice class. Went Sat morning to Coyote Bluff in Bristow, and shot a practice round since I had already qualified for the state shoot. Anyways, my first target was a 5, and then I lit it UP!!!!!!! I didn't shoot a 5 or 8 until the last target, and that one I went for the 14.I ended up with a 205 on 20 targets, with a 5, 8, 14, the rest 10's and 12's. I have NEVER shot that good. I shot there about a month ago, and shot a 181. Looks like I may have to quit shooting as much.

Tony
welli shot the last leg of the Heartland Triple crown and i shot pretty good. while i did have 5 fives and a zero i still shot 364-13 elevens. this course was really tough and when you misjudge a target f0r 43 yards and its 48 that usually spells doom. dont know wher i ended up overall, but that Ultratec1 guy beat me by 16 points and got me overall. hes so darn lucky. i have a few more shotos left for this season, but i really dont know how much i will be able to do wth my job situation. find job first, then shoot 3D.. Gator
Well, I shot two courses last weekend, and didn't do so hot. First course was an ASA shoot, I shot novice, and shot 187. Was 13 down after the first 10 targets, and shot even the next ten, and I though they were harder. Then I went to Deep Fork and shot. 40yd max here, 25 targets, 216. It stunk though, in my first 11 targets, I had 5-6 12's, then BOMBED, but I know what happened. Today, I went to Turnpike Archery in Sapulpa, and shot. Scored a 198 on 20 targets, when I left, I was tied for first, but I know there were alot more to shoot. This course was decieving, as there were ALOT of uphill/downhill shots, and I am not used to those. I have 3 weeks to get my head in the game, the ASA State Championship is right around the corner. Tony
i shot a shoot at Happy Apple archery in Norwalk Iowa saturday. i shot really bad. 354 and they had center 12s also. i couldnt see the targets because of the sun and from how dark the targets were in some spots. kind just abad day to shoot for me. i shot a good shoot in Pella Iowa on sunday with some friends. i let one shot get into my head and it burned me pretty bad. i shot a zero in a ek target that i thought was 48 yards, when it was 56 yards. kind took the wind out of my sails the rest of the day. ended up shooting 379 which isnt very good for a course with center 12s. but i was happy with my range estimation for the other 38 targets and i didnt get any crazy left and rights. got another good tip from Ultratec1 im now shooting 3D with both eyes open. next shoot is the Iowa Games this up coming weekend in Ames Iowa. somehow i need to pull m head out of a dark region and get into the game. Gator
Looks like my streak continues!!!! Word is I won the Bowhunter Class at Cimarron Valley Archery this weekend!!!! Shot a 202 on 20 targets. First ten I was 4 up, so I only shot 2 down on the back ten, and it was MUCH harder, ALOT of downhill shots with some decieving ranges. Next weekend is the ASA shoot, hope my shooting stays on course
