MCH
Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores Shot Texarkana yesterday. Had another rough day starting out. Actually missed a target for the first time in two years. I had drawn back and just couldn't seem to get my pin to settle on the target where I wanted, so I started to draw down. When I did my mind had progressed farther than my body because my finger was still over the trigger and the string lept forward. Arrow went sailing 20 feet over the target. Luckily, this shoot had a bonus target that erased your worse score. Anyway, they were scoring offset X's and 14's. I ended up shooting 7 up on a 25 target course. I shot 7 X's and one 14. I shot at two 14's all together but missed one of them due to a badly executed shot. In the last 10 targets, including the bonus, I shot 5 X's and one 14. When I left, the score was good enough for second but 3 shooters had not turned their score in yet. It was a trickle two day shoot, so I'm not sure if they were on the range or if they had just elected to not turn in their scorecards. Overall, the course was really tough. We had two shots from elevated platforms and at least 3 more shots that were close to 45 degree uphill, downhill angles. The majority of the shots were split ranges. I also shot first on almost all the targets due to the fact that I was shooting with 3 Bow Novice's. Since my stake was further, I shot first. There were a few targets where our stakes were at the same position so the let me shoot last on those. One shot that really stood out in my mind was a Rhinehart Standing Turkey target. It was set up on top of a cliff, 27 yards away. I lucked out a pinwheel on it.
Tony
Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores shot 300-55X tonight. should have been better. i was rushing to get my round in and get to Des Moines to buy new boots before the rush hour traffic was in force. 19X 18X 18X....had 39 inside outs. Thursday is my last practice before the MidWest Sectionals in Kansas city on saturday. this will be a good test for me. Tony
Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores obviously the test was to great. i didnt shoot very good at the Midwest sectionals. i shot a 300-54X the first day and a 299-50X the second day. 599-104X. for some reason i had a little nerves the first day. started out strange. with 16 X then cleaned the second game with 20 X and the last game with 18X. second day i have no idea what happenned. no nerves, just loss of focus and concentration. started out with 4 x 4 x and then the shot happened. i shot a 4 and just have no idea why? that took the wind out of my sails a lot and just could seem to gather it back. shot with some great guys and had fun, but not exactly what i was expecting. im shooting vegas faces practicing for the Iowa Deer Classic this next weekend. i am hoping for a better performance. Tony
Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores i wont be posting practice scores in here for indoor target until my tourny scores get closer to what i shoot in practice. i will just say i shot good and leave it at that. its amazing how you can go to a shoot and shoot so poorly and then come home, change your d loop length and shoot a personal best score. its got to have something to do with being comfortable. maybe i need to make my practice uncomfortable and see how i do then. heres my shoots left for the year . Deer Classic shoot Mar 3rd State Indoor march 10th NFAA Indoor Nationals March 31 and april 1st. Shoot Strong Tony
MCH
Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores Shot my first scored 5-spot round last night. I shot a 300 45X. Not bad considering I was shooting in my backyard with a slight wind. I drew down at least 10 times the whole round. But considering there was no pressure, it probably evened out. I think I should've shot a few more warm-up shots because I dropped 3 X's on my first end. Probably had 4 shots that were cutting the 4 line. What I thought was neat was that for some reason, I X'd out on the top right hand corner target with the majority of them being inside-outs. I actually shot my worst on the left side targets. They had the majority of the 4-cutters.
Tony
Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores i shot the Iowa Deer Classic today. they hold a Vegas style tourny. i shot pretty good. i shot a 297-18X. i dont expect that score to hold up with a lot of good shooters to come. but i was in 1st last i heard. the first half i shot a 147-5Xs. the second half i shot a 150-13Xs. yep got to remember to keep my bow arm straight but relaxed. finally figured it out after i had dropped 3 points in the first 2 ends. duh.. State Indoor is next weekend. i just got a 6X lens for my super D and im just not sure i want to use it yet. i might at the Nationals in 3 weeks. ultratec1
Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores Been trying to get things together after 2 very bad shoots. Monday Freestlye- 300-57X BHFS-300-59X Tuesday Freestlye 300-56x (not sure what happened) Wednesday BHFS-300-57X Freestlye- 300-60x. I've been toying around with Freestlyle but I don't shoot a lense, just a long stabilizer. I shot my personal best with that it today 300-60x. ultratec1
Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores Like I have said before and also have been told, it don't matter what you shoot in practice it is what happens when it counts. It is just nice to finally get over that hump and finally shoot one.

MCH
Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores Shot a 3D tournament at Ashdown, Arkansas yesterday. It was my first time at the course and I shot extremely well. It was a tough course with quite a few 35+ targets. I ended up shooting a 250 on the 25 target ASA course. I only had 4 X's and 4 8's. I did have one 5 though, but I don't count it since we had a mulligan, which I 10'd. If you ask me, the target I 5'd was unfair. It was a running wolf on a cable pulley system. I did have them release it once so I could judge the speed, but if you haven't shot that target before, it's very hard to get an 8 or above on your first time. Needless to say, I managed a 5 and wasn't happy. On a good note, my score was good enough to win first in Limited B. I really should've shot Limited A, which shoots from the same stake, but I was told that since it was my first time on the course to shoot the B. But I was also told that it was very hard to shoot even or up on this course. I really have nothing to complain about in the shooting department. Out of my 4 8's, only one of them was due to a bad shot. It was a treestand strutting turkey at 32 yards. I judged it at 36 and used my 30 yard pin(steep incline), and I barely shot out of the small 10 ring. The rest of my 8's were from me going for the 12 and hitting a tad low. It happens. Oh well, if I keep shooting like this, I have a good chance of attaining my goal of shooting in the top 20 at the ASA Pro/AM. The only thing that is hurting me is that they're projecting over 200 Hunter class participants. If that happens, I may lower my expectations to the top 40. Tony
Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores thats good shooting there kevin. i wish my day was that good. but it wasnt. i shot Afton Iowa today for my first 3D of the year. i havent shot the ultratec any but 20 arrows on saturday to get it kinda set up. i have a little fletching contact to deal with, but had fun anyways. weather was cool and muddy, but pretty nice. the course is a 40 target course with 10,8,5 scoring. i shot 27 10s, 8 8s and 5 5s. 359 out of 400 is what i shot. a bunch of shots i shot were left for some reason. this is the first time i have had this Ultratec out, so im guessing the strings need to be shot in a little. best shot of the day was a 38 yard deer across a ditch that i shot a center 11 on. had a good time with razortec1 and i blew one of his pin nocks off on like the 4th target in. i just need to spend a little time now fine tuning this bow. its a lot differant feeling to shoot 62 lbs again when i have been shooting 53 for indoor all winter. Tony
Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores looks like i finished in 5th place at state with the 30055X i shot. lots of archery gods ahead of me. i shot a 300-56X in practice tonight. also got the 3d bow dialed in really well. paper tuned it and was busting Xs at 20 yards pretty frequnetly like my target bow. ultratec1
Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores Well the last shoot wasn't what I was looking for but I will take it. I shot the Iowa state indoor last weekend and shot both BHFS and Freestyle. Freestyle was a 57X which got me 2nd BHFS was a 56X which also got me 2nd. In the BHFS there was a shoot-off between me and another guy. Well needless to say he got me in the 2nd scoring end of the shoot-off. I hadn't picked up my bow since state and in all honesty really had no urge to but.......... I went today and shot a bit. BHFS 300-58X Freestyle 300-60X. Sure wish I could get that 60x with BHFS gear.
Tony
Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores Ultratec1 = X Machine.. good for nothing so and so.. stinikin pin shooter in freestyle.. and sandbaggin in BHFS.. you should be ashamed of yourself.. nobody should shoot a pin that good. just remember what 2 years ago you just wanted to shoot a 300? now your a X machine! im jealous.. can you help me... oh wait you already did.. but i have used that nugget of wisdom up. any newer nuggets to share? shot a 3d on sunday in the wind and cold. got a free breakfast with the shoot though. scoring 10, 8 and 6. 56 targets my score was 548 or 12 down. hammered the long targets misqued on the short easy ones? best shot of the day a 37 yard skunk that i got a 8 on in a 25 mph crosswind. Gator
Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores Shot a 3D course in Oklahoma City today, and on 26 targets shot a 232, which was good enough for either second or third, depending on "x" count. Had 2 fives, one I just misjudged BAD the distance, then the other I used the wrong pin. My range estimation is REALLY coming around, I was spot on on the majority of the targets today, minus one. Just need to get my shot execution better
Tony
Re: 2007 Competition and Practice scores thats great shooting Jason. were they low 12s you all were shooting? i shot the NFAA Indoor nationals and i shot a 299-52 and a 300-55x for a 599-107X. not happy with the 4 i shot, but i had fun. the marked 3d was low 12s and at some pretty long distances. i shot 208 on the marked 3d and i dont know where i placed but 212 won the trophy class. its all about 3d now, but i want to do some practice with Indoor at least 1 time per week. i also need to find a place to shoot indoor. im either going to move or find a plce big enough around here.
