Re: Springfield XD

I received your PM IL_HuNtIn_KiD but wanted to respond to your post so others could benefit (or criticize grin.gif) my comments.

As Clay stated, I do own a SA XD SC in 40s&w and I absolutely love it. This is my primary CCW. It’s a very safe, reliable, an accurate gun. The first time I shot, I thought it had quite a bit of “snap” to it but, keep in mind, I hadn’t ever shot a 40 before. I don’t even think about it now. I was just at the range this past Sunday and sent close to 300 rounds through it. I would have kept shooting but the group I went with was ready to leave.

You asked about pros and cons…

Pros:

Compact and lightweight – I carry mine every day with minimal discomfort.

Reliable – I have owned mine for nearly a year with no misfeeds or other problems.

Grip and trigger safety – I’m not worried about the gun going off but when I’m ready to shoot, I don’t have to think about flipping a safety off.

Standard accessory rail – Even though I haven’t added any accessories yet, this is great if you want to add a light or laser.

Visual/tactile striker status and loaded chamber indicator – These are additional safety features.

XD Gear – Mine came with 2 mags (9rd and 12rd), belt holster, double magazine belt pouch, magazine loader, cable lock, and case.

Grip – For me, the grip on the XD is much more natural, comfortable, and fitting than the Glock.

Warranty – Springfield Armory promises a lifetime guarantee with every XD pistol.

Cons:

I would like to add a Crimson Trace laser but they are not yet available for the XDs.

Other than that, there not much I don’t like about my XD. Let me know if you have other questions. I love talking about this gun. cool.gif

I got one of the first 45acp's to come to my local shop. It is my first handgun. Its a nice shooter, only problem I had was finding a left handed holster for it. Thanks Galco

Do you have the 4" or 5" barrel? Is it your concealed carry weapon?

Re: Springfield XD

I have the SA XD service model in .357 Sig. I bought mine with the olive drab frame and black slide. This is a great pistol. If you buy the .357 Sig, you can also buy a .40 S&W barrel from Bar-Sto(sold through Midway Usa) and have both calibers in one pistol just by swapping the barrels. Everything else is interchangeble. Just make sure to pay attention to which barrel is in the gun before you load up and shoot. I like the Springfield Armory XD better than the Glock. If the 14 shot .45 ACP had been available when I bought mine, I would have defineatly bought that one instead.

I might have gone with the 45 ACP as well if it would have been available in a subcompact version when I bough my 40.
