Is this really hunting?

Re: Is this really hunting?

We just went through this discussion about the same show last week in here and it got a bit nasty.

I didn't see the show, but I understand that this type of hunting is legal in Texas.

Maybe it was made legal to make it easier to deal with the deer populations in Texas....I don't know.

I wouldn't want to hunt that way, if I was to visit Texas, because I would feel like I was poaching too, even though it is legal down there.

I guess they have their reason for legalizing such a method for hunting, but I think they made a boo-boo and should have thought it over better.

Maybe it's an old law, that has never been revised to set the standards for today.

Maybe one of our Texas board members could shed some light on the whole thing for us, to help us all to understand why things are different in Texas. wink.gif

If they are going to show a hunt like that on TV for the whole world to scrutinize, then at least they should have had a commentary on there, exlaining why this method is legal in their state, and frowned on everywhere else in North America.

Just my opinion of course (which doesn't carry much weight, in a discussion such as this)

Just a warning to all : Lets keep this discussion civil, because I know it could get nasty.

i saw that show also. it was deion sanders new show on espn and he had a angels pitcher that won the world series on it. the pitcher was doing the hunting or what ever you call it.

now me i dont like that idea for hunting but if it is legal i wont disrespect any person that does hunt like this.

Re: Is this really hunting?

I didn't see the show you are talking about, but even if I would have I would probably have changed the channel, because that is not hunting to me either. I have lived in TX my whole life and have never hunted that way and don't ever plan to. I have never hunted in South TX, but I think that is probably where the show was filmed because I think that is a common way to "supposeable hunt" down there.

Re: Is this really hunting?

i saw the show too. i'm laughing because i never thought of the fact that they were wearing camo and didn't even need it. now that i think about it, they were both wearing rubber boots. probably so nothing would pick up their scent. that must have been the new "Scent-Lok Cigar." They could have represented hunting a little better on that show. I mean we all watch the outdoor channel and hunting movies but we know what we're doing. that was on ESPN for anyone who was flipping through to watch. you gotta think, maybe thats why people are against hunting sometimes. they look at it like that and think, "Thats hunting?"

Deion Sanders has a hunting show?!?! You've got to be kidding!!! confused.gif

To keep it short and sweet...my very honest opinion is I dont like that type of "hunting". One big reason is to the eye of a non hunter or anti hunter...it looks more like shooting then hunting. With that said, if it is legal then I have no problem with it..although I would not do it myself.
