Guest realtrhunter
Has anyone used or seen the G5 Monotec BHs used? I am looking for how they did with penetration and down range accuracy. Also info on how efficiently they can take an animal down, from whitetails to elk to bear. Guest bowhunter56
Re: G5 Monotec BH i don't like them, they are not sharp, that's why they sell the stone to sharpen them....but i do like the g5 STRIKER-SCARY SHARP, AND FLY GREAT.. need2hunt
Re: G5 Monotec BH I have used the Montec G5 for several years, kiiled several deer with them. They fly great and are tough and durable. The only problem I have with them is exactly what bowhunter56 said - they aren't sharp. I've tried to sharpen mine but have never been fully satisfied with the sharpness, I know there are a few guys on here that have been able to sharpen them real good, but it hasn't been me. I switched over to the Montec Striker as well. Same great flight and still durable but now with replaceable blades that are extremely sharp. I would suggest them over the G5 anyday. mag1
Re: G5 Monotec BH They made some changes to them this past year, and are very sharp out of the box. I got a heart shot this year thru the shoulder, she only went 20yrds.
Leo
Re: G5 Monotec BH 1. If they fly well out of your setup, they will flat work for you. I've killed animals from 50lbs to over 700lbs with them. 2. Learn how to resharpen them. I've killed multiple animals with the same head. 3. Tune your bow to your arrows. Not the other way around. buckee
Re: G5 Monotec BH I've been using them for 3 seasons now...love em. They fly straight and if your into sharpening things, are no problem at all. I love the Montec sharpening stone too and use it on all my knives. Guest realtrhunter
Re: G5 Monotec BH Whats the farthest any of ya'll have shot an animal with them? I am setting up my rig to shoot faster and farther for western hunts. I am wanting to stay with a fixed blade, but want to get the same accuracy as I have now without going to expandables. Yes, I know accuracy is more about form, but you still have to have perfect arrow flight down range.
craig mack
Re: G5 Monotec BH I love mine. I shot a doe and a six point with the same head this past season. The fly great and penetrate great as well. If you get some just buy the sharpening stone and the sharpener. They come out the box alot sharper now than they use to, so you would just need the shapening stuff so you could re-use the head after a kill. Good luck
OUTSIDER
Re: G5 Monotec BH Mine shoot out to 40 yds out of the switchback. Never shot an animal that far. But i can still shoot them with confidence at that distance on target
unioncountyslayer
Re: G5 Monotec BH I shoot Montecs as well. Killed a 200 plus pound buck this year with complete pass through. That's all I need.
