Looking for a Stabilizer

I got a Cabela's gift certificate that I'm looking to use on a stabilizer for my Hoyt UltraSport. I have thought about getting one last year, but didn't feel like spending the money. From what I've heard though, it sounds like they can make quite a difference in recoil, sound, and accuracy.

So does anyone have any suggestions on what one is best, preferably in the $30 range? It would have to come from Cabelas, so probably would have to be one from this page: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templa...21424-cat600308. Which I know makes it rather limited, but any information you guys could give me would be great though. Thanks. smile.gif

Re: Looking for a Stabilizer

I got a Limbsaver min-S coil for $17 from Gander Mountain and have it on my Hoyt Rintec XL. Haven't shot my bow alot with it yet but it seems to work pretty good...my bow is pretty quiet already anyway:-) It's not too heavy either which I like. the Doinkers felt like a brick to me..but maybe it's because I'm a girl:-)

Thanks for the info...just wondering, why the mini S-Coil though and not the regular S-Coil?

I got the mini-S coil because it is lighter and my Hoyt is a small bow and pretty quiet, so it is a good fit for it, besides it was a few bucks cheaper than the bigger one.

Re: Looking for a Stabilizer

Do you need any weight to your bow to balance?? What I would do, get your bow out, howevey you shoot while hunting....quiver on or off...hold the bow out with arm extended with an open hand grip. Does the top of the bow tip back? If so, then I would suggest going to a shop and experiment with different weight stabilizers till the bow just sits there with an open hand grip. If your bow is balanced already, then you can pretty much go with whatever you want. I would suggest a Sims or Doinker or other flexible rubber stabilizer.

Re: Looking for a Stabilizer

Well I just checked and the top of my bow tips back quite a bit. So maybe I will go somewhere and play around with some different kinds of stabilizers to see what might work. Thanks for the info guys.
