Back Tension

Tony Suggested I move this here. I am new to back tension. I just bought a Carter Evolution Plus. I am having trouble being consistent. I think I hold different against the back wall at times, because sometime I let the safety off, and the bow fires immediately...Other times I Feel like I'm struggling to get it to release. I'm to the point where I can tell when it is going to go off when i release the safety. I can feel tension in my bicep, and top of my shoulder muscle. When i am very relaxed at full draw, it doesn't ever seem to happen. I guess I just need to work on my consistency. I knew form was gonna be my big problem shooting BT. Any hints or suggesations to shorten the learning curve?

Re: Back Tension

How much do those Carter Evolution Plus releases run for? I am thinking of giving one a try again for hunting. Are there any other Back Tension releases that anyone recommends?

Re: Back Tension

Realtrhunter.

BT releases are not for hunting in my opinion. most of them run between 100 and 175 dollars. some are less. some are more.

i shoot BT releaase for competition only. i shoot a Carter One shot for hunting. its a wrist strap index finger caliper release. but because i know how the shot is supposed to feel, i do not punch it for hunting. i use a slow squeeze.

Shoot Strong

Re: Back Tension

I shoot my Carter Target 4 for hunting. The thumb trigger allows me to command it if I have too, like on a deer getting ready to bolt. A pure BT I would not recommend. The only guy I have ever heard shooting a pure back tension release for hunting is Nathan Brooks. But, he is unnatural. blush.gif
