Here are some pics of Mt Rainer from my weekend stay in 05. Hope you like them half as much as I do.

These trees take so long to mature due to the huge amount of snow they receive annually. [image]http://1.jpg[/image]

The fall colors were awesome [image]http://3.jpg[/image]

This was one of the views from my window in the lodge where I stayed. [image]http://7.jpg[/image]

This was taken through my spotting scope and then edited for clarity. These day hikers start at the lodge and reach the summit each day. [image]http://27a.jpg[/image]

Re: Mt. Rainer, my favorite place

I am sorry for the first couple of pics, I forgot to resize them.

If any of you didnt know, Mt Rainer has snow on it year round as its a glacier. One of the largest in the lower 48.

If you think the pics are nice. You should plan your next vacation there. Trust me the pics dont do justice, and the Mrs will be in the mood if you know what I mean. LOL.

Thanks for the approval John. Have any of you ever been to Rainer ? How about Mt Hood ? I can not find my pics of Hood and St Helens.

But when I do, I will get them up for you.

Re: Mt. Rainer, my favorite place

I asked one of the Forest Service workers while there and he said those trees have grown that way due to a severe cold winter about 15 years ago. There are trees all around that area that are about the same size and all deformed in some way. The side without branches on those trees in that picture are facing North, so your wind theory could also hold a key as to why. ?
