magnatecsteve
Been thinking about getting a good ground blind for both turkey and deer. Anyone have any reccomendations? I'd prefer one with the shoot through screen, anyone use them? Any effect on arrow flight?
otdrzmn04
Re: Best bow blind for the money? ive got the ameristep brickhouse. easy setup and take down, enough room for me and my 8 and 9 yr olds, and hard to beat for the price. there is no effect with the screens as long as your bow is tuned
M00N
Re: Best bow blind for the money? We have this blind for turkey/deer hunting. It has the shoot through archery mesh and two different sized windows. It's quick to setup too and holds two people easily. We actually can get three people in the blind when gun hunting and still have pleanty of room. It isn't that bulky or heavy to carry into the woods either it has a nice bag with a strap that it goes in. We got ours on sale at Cabela's, due to a rip in the box (but the blind and everything inside was undamaged), for about $150 which was a great deal considering they are $190 new. It's called the Cabela's Lightning Set 4-Season Hunting Blind. They had it set up in the store next to the Ameristep blinds and this one was a lot more sturdy feeling to us. magnatecsteve
Re: Best bow blind for the money? Is the advertisement decieving...or can you really see through the screens that much? Seems like turkey/deer would still bust you drawing your bow if there is that much visibility through them...maybe it's just the ad showing the size compared to the hunter..dunno. maddhunter
Re: Best bow blind for the money? I have an Ameristep Doghouse TSC. I love it. It's easy to set up, comes in a backpack carrying pack, and wieghs much less than a Double Bull. I shot a turkey out of mine at 10yrds this fall. Shot it through the shoot through mesh with the plastic liner for scent control. The arrow went through the mesh at an angle and flew straight and true. Natchez has them and other blinds on sale. The Doghouse TSC in Mossy Oak Breakup is regularly $169.00 and is on sale for $69.00. NATCHEZ
unioncountyslayer
Re: Best bow blind for the money? For the money, I have a GroundMax by BigGame stands. I picked it up on sale at BassPro for 70 bucks. 2 full sized men could easily sit comfortably in it and it has the shoot through screen. ildrhntr
Re: Best bow blind for the money? I vote Double Bull as well. I hunted out of one for the first time in Wyoming in 2002 and I bought one in 2004 for my trip to Montana. I have never used it for turkey but my neighbors love to borrow it and have killed birds as close as 4 yds to it with a bow.
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Best bow blind for the money? I used one of these blinds last year. Worked great. The best feature is the size. It is large enough that I was able to put a stool in the corner to sit on, then when deer approached I stood up and had plenty of room to draw. Definitely a plus being able to shoot from a standing position. BTW - I left it up for over 3 months in the West Texas winds and it never moved. Very sturdy construction. Randy
Re: Best bow blind for the money? Just remember when buying a blind to make sure it is big enough to be able to draw your bow without the arrow hitting anywhere. Some of the smaller blinds are hard to use because of that. Sit in one that is set up, pretend to draw your bow and try to shoot out a couple different windows. Remember that when you extend your arm before you draw, your arrow will be close to another 20 inches past your hand.

Guest Hunter36
Re: Best bow blind for the money? Check out some ameristep blinds. I got the grizzly G-30 for christmas and shot a few times out of it. Windows are kinda small but it sets up fast and easy. good materials doesnt blow in the wind. Ameristep has some other blinds with similar hub designs with larger windows. I think the Grizz-G30 is alittle over $100 but my sister bought mine on clearance at Wal-Mart for $20.00. M00N
Re: Best bow blind for the money? [ QUOTE ] Is the advertisement decieving...or can you really see through the screens that much? Seems like turkey/deer would still bust you drawing your bow if there is that much visibility through them...maybe it's just the ad showing the size compared to the hunter..dunno. [/ QUOTE ] I believe it's just edited for the ad. When I put all the mesh in my blind I cannot see in it from the outside unless I walk up and stick my face smack against the mesh to peer in. I think just for advertisment purposes they used some photo editing and lighting tricks to get the guy that visible in the blind. Sorry I didn't reply sooner I overlooked your question. It's always a good idea in any blind to wear black clothing instead of camo since camo does you no good when your backdrop is going to be solid black. Just a tip. magnatecsteve
Re: Best bow blind for the money? Thanks for all of the great responses guys!! Really wanted to get a feel of what has been feild tested by y'all..and that's what I got..Gonna be shopping aroung and seems like Ameristep is a popular vote and a good price. I know the Double Bull are really popular as well, but I plan on leaving it out for a limited time for the animals to somewhat get accustomed to it, and I would hate to spend alot on a good blind to have it walk off..if you know what I mean. I definately want to test them out already set up for roominess for sure before I buy. Thanks again guys..keep em' coming if anyone else has more suggestions!
