Gator
Re: Crappie Not yet, can't get to the pond. But with as low as the water has to be out there, I may not even screw with it this year
muggs
Re: Crappie I could be ice fishing for them if we had ice...but I'll most likely have to wait until spring. Crappie fishing usually heats up in May around the lakes I fish.
Hoyt03
Re: Crappie Defintely cant wait until early spring through the spawn. Plan on tearing them up this spring and loading up the freezer again. My stock is getting very low. If we didn't have this darn skim ice on the lakes then i might be on them now. Cant fish it from shore, can't get a boat on it, and def can't walk on it yet. Basically not fishable.

LOL Hoty 03 and I will be spending a morning chasing gobblers, afternoon playing golf, evening fishing crappies. Boy do I love being a country boy. Funny thing though, they had a very noticable sulfur taste to them.

CDubWSR
Re: Crappie Word on the street is that a potential new world record crappie was caught here in Oklahoma about two days ago. From what i hear it weighed in at 5lbs3oz which shatters the current state record here and is going to be pending as the new world record. It was caught at lake thunderbird here in central OK. jerdanmagic
Re: Crappie I live about 15 minutes from T-Bird and I fish it regularly. I know there are some really nice crappie in there, but I'm having a hard time believing this. Where did you hear this CDub? I couldn't find anything online about it, but Im very interested. If its true, every body and their cousin is gonna be out there. Plus nearly every ramp is closed because of low water, it would be a nightmare. Keep us posted. CDubWSR
Re: Crappie The fishing manager up at my store(sportsman's) knows the guys who caught it and the guy that tied the jig it was caught on. They both called him within about 5 minutes to tell him about it. As far as where it was caught on the lake all he said was slip number 2. Im not familiar with thunderbird at all so i dont know if that was a fishing dock or just a regular marina dock. You will probably see it in the paper this weekend i would assume. Gator
Re: Crappie Wonder if a guy named Dirk tied the jig......... He is on Crappie.com. I went over there yesterday to see if there was anything said about it, but not yet. There are two marinas on T'Bird, so I wonder if it would have been caught there. But with the water as low as it is, I would have thought those wouldn't be very deep, but I haven't been on that lake in several years
