AJ
The ultimate job just has to be Meteorology. Where else can you be correct only half of the time and still collect a rather respectable pay check? A couple weeks ago they said rain for us here in the desert. We got 3" of snow. Friday through Saturday morning they called for 10-20" of snow at the pass and 6-8" in town. The pass got a dusting. We had rain. The only time the weather person is close is when they are recapping the weather from that day on the nightly news.
OUTSIDER
Re: Ultimate Job Exactley, the storm that has been pounding the mid west has now moved into west virginia and PA, they said an inch maybe a little more....well 5 inches later and still falling and now warnings until tommrow 6am. I could tell with the storm that we were gonna get a good bit of snow.
LETMGROW
Re: Ultimate Job Sometimes the recaps aren't even correct. These people should at least have a window in their office so they can see what is happening. LOL!

DU_man_84
Re: Ultimate Job [ QUOTE ] Where else can you be correct only half of the time and still collect a rather respectable pay check? [/ QUOTE ] heck they they can be wrong 99% of the time and still get that paycheck, they always got that 1% to fall back on, but one meterologist i respect is Tom Skilling no matter where i hear the weather from, fox, weather channel, skilling always seems to hit it pretty close on the nose
Ohiobucks
Re: Ultimate Job I've said that all along about the weather guys here in central Ohio. "Hmmm, got to put together a forecast, I think I'll call Indianapolis and see what it's doing there...."
Shaun_300
Re: Ultimate Job Tell me about it! I think about that all the time. I don't even think they're right half the time here.
jbeck
Re: Ultimate Job Ok, I have the answer. We can start a RT weather channel. LOL we'll just have Members starting in washington and california notifying Montana and wyoming what's coming. They can notiy the mid west, you can let us in the east know what and when. *I'm betting we get more accurate readings then the weather channel. Jeramie
Re: Ultimate Job I hear ya AJ! We were suppose to get 8" this past weekend. We were dreading it because of the severe ice storm the week before.... It rained for a little while.... That was it. I was SO happy. Thats one of the few times I didn't mind them being wrong. unioncountyslayer
Re: Ultimate Job Man, you're doing good if you get it half the time. Not sure the ones around here get it right that much.
Leo
Re: Ultimate Job Even when they get it right they don't get credit for an accurate prediction. Ultimate job? Thankless is more like it You better really like weather in that line of work. You're gonna get sent to the most likely hurricane strike areas. Blamed for not predicting a tornado that levels someones house. Or blamed for not sensing the coming of the next flood.

AJ
Re: Ultimate Job Here in Las Cruces, they brag about an average of 350 days of sunshine per year. I don't know how many years that is averaged over but I know its not going to be 2006 or 2007!
Ravin R10 man
Re: Ultimate Job why do you think they have that little outdoor area they always go to?? so they can see whats going on outside!!..LOL
stevebeilgard
Re: Ultimate Job missing the 3 day forcast is almost automatic. so, take "global warming" with a grain of salt. we have jerks predicting hundreds and thousands of years in the future, and we can't even predict a week ahead.... i love it.
